We too were called at home by a woman telling us we won a trip to the bahammas on a cruise ship, and it had everything you needed including a car rental. She told us we needed to pay a promotional fee of 399 per person for a total of 798. us dollars and needed our credit card number. We were skeptical but they told us about security for your cc and how it wouldnt be put through until you approved it.

Unfortunately, we did give our number out and then decided we did not approve any transaction, they were even more persistent on selling you this cruise, again we declined after quickly finding the Ripoff Report here.

We called our credit card company right away and had to cancel our credit card in case the transaction went through.

Obviously not...

What we do is enter the card information and tell you we are charging you card for $798US. When we enter it in, it puts a pending charge on the card (pending your authorization on the recording). If you decided not to authorize it, you didn't have to cancel your card. All major credit cards have a zero liability policy, meaning that you are not responsible for any unauthorized use of your card. The pending charge reverses in 3-5 days if there is no written or recorded receipt.
