Covenant Transport
In Late 2010, I sold a vehicle to someone who failed to register said vehicle in a timely manner. Because of this, the state of Florida suspended my Drivers license for 4 days.
From Feb 07 to Feb 09, 2011 I attended Orientation Class for employment with Covenant Transport in Chattanooga, TN. After completing my application paperwork reporting the suspension to them, I was told that I needed to get a letter from the state of Florida stating that my license was never suspended, which of course is impossible.
Covenant Transport maintains a policy against hiring drivers who have had a suspension of their licenses within the last 12 months, which is fine for people who have had a license suspended for drunk driving, however my circumstances were a little different, and would have appreciated a chance to explain it to someone there. I was not given that chance and on the 9th of February, I was put on a Bus for home and told if I fax the letter to my recruiter within the next few days, I may return to training the following week.
Setting aside the total lack of warmth which one would hope to feel when joining a Family or Unified Organization, their total lack of Safety training during orientation was a surprise.
They get my nomination for Christian Wall of Shame, not because of their policy, but because they claim to be a Christian organization, however at no time during my three days there did I get a chance to explain the circumstances surrounding my suspension to them. I never even got to talk to anyone concerning the matter.
I don’t know what “Good Book” they read at Covenant Transport, but I’m pretty sure its Not the Bible.
Lessons Learned : The only people who get anywhere in this world are people who lie and cheat. So lie as often as you can.
