My band and I had booked two separate jobs at this club with a signed contract. It was less than a month before our gig and they called and bumped us saying they already had a band booked. This was a lie, as the band that was supposedly booked hadn't even formed until a week prior.
They re-scheduled us, only to bump us AGAIN for the same other band a few weeks later.Due to the short notice and poor business practice of Jack's, my band and I lost out on $800.00 for those two gigs. In this area, clubs book groups two months in advance. So, if we get bumped, we are down for that month.
Jack's has started doing this to other bands in this area, and there is apparently nothing we can do about it except refuse to play there. When you sign their contract, the owner, Jack, well his signature isn't even on the contract. They just file it that way.
This being a smaller town with only a few clubs to play at, blacklisting a club is only hurting ourselves, but what else can we do?.
Coyote Jack's is a nice club, but their shady business practices and their lies have ruined the idea of working there for many musicians in this area.
