In October of 2005, I went in for information about Events and Aventures, an agency that organizes group activities for singles.  IT was only soppose do be informative but the high pressure sales girl insisted if I didnt pay the $2000 that day, the price would increase in 24 hours.  THere was also an additonal $30 deducted from my bank account each month for event expenses.

TWO weeks later I became very ill and was put in hospital-I developed acute renal failure.  Was too ill to participate in this service and called and told them this.  They said they would freeze my account for 3 months until i got better.  I continued to decline and in a month I again contacted them saying I was no better and this was going to be a long chronic illness and i desperately needed my money refunded to pay for my medical expenses.

My Dr. wrote them as well saying I would be unable to participate due to my illness now or the forseeable future and the right thing to do would be to refund her money.

While Events & Adventures acknowledged I never attended an event and would never attend an event, they flatly denied refunding ANY of my money and CONTINUED to take out the $30 each month-saying sorry, but that was in the agreement to, whether I went or not (even though the $30 was for expenses of the events)

This organization has an "F" with the Better Business Bureau.  New stories have been done on them warning of the exact same problem I had--no refunding of money, high pressure sales tactics, misrepresenting who clients were (i was told they were all Drsl. and attorneys and equally men to women and have since learned NONE of that is true)

I would like for any portion of my $$2300 refunded back to me.  I told them I would file a complaint with the BBB and they said they could care less.  They do not seem to care they have a horrible reputation. The BBB could not get anywhere with them either.

Events and Adventures experience

AUTHOR: Paul - Hazlewood (United States of America)

I actually came to your site to review any negative reports on Events and Adventures, before actually going for an interview. I read your story and decided to go for the "free" consultation. I was greeted by a very nice young lady who ask me to fill out a form. The lobby was filled with people and my wait seemed like it would be long. I waited for about 35 minutes and was called back by another young lady. She ask me lots of questions, and requested lots of information about my personal and financial status. After showing me a calender of events available  to me, (which was every single day of the year) She presented me the prices for the programs. I really wasn't shocked because I had read your report. After considering all of the options available to me in the St. Louis area, I decided to take a chance. I felt the urge to let the consumers know that I have been a member for almost 4 months and am very happy with the program. I feel it is unfair to judge an establishment when you didn't even use the service. I admit the fees were more than I wanted to pay, but I have meet a lot of good quality people and I am beginning to date again. I had not dated in over 3 years.I would recommend this service.

I Think I Smell a Fake Rebuttal Here!

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

This is simply a response to the rebuttal that was submitted by "Paul" on January 23, 2011.

Unless this report was pulled from a different site, this site does not belong to the user who submitted the report which confuses me as to why you would say "I came to YOUR site..". However, this is beside the main point which is really that I found a similar review from someone named "Paul" from the St. Louis area roughly 5 months after the rebuttal was submitted. Now do keep in mind that this could just be a coincidence, but that is mostly unlikely given the tone of both the review and the rebuttal.

The Paul in the rebuttal stated that he was a member for "almost four months" when he found himself starting to date again. This would mean that his membership began around September 2010 at the time he wrote the rebuttal.

The Paul in the review stated that he started him member for "almost 2 years" when he found himself starting to date again. This would mean that his membership began around June 2009 at the time he wrote the review.

Both pose the question of why a negative review was written when the service wasn't even used which completely miss the point both this report and another review on the same thread as the review which was written by Paul. The other review stated "I am not saying whether it is a bad or good product- just be prepared when you go" and this report was simply describing that the user was unhappy with the interactions and the BS they were going through due to an illness.

Again, this may not be the same Paul, but given the likelihood and odds that it is a different Paul within the claimed 1500 members in the area, it most likely is. And when I say Paul, I mean an employee who is clearly an idiot, trying to garner good rep for the company.
