In October of 2005, I went in for information about Events and Aventures, an agency that organizes group activities for singles. IT was only soppose do be informative but the high pressure sales girl insisted if I didnt pay the $2000 that day, the price would increase in 24 hours. THere was also an additonal $30 deducted from my bank account each month for event expenses.
TWO weeks later I became very ill and was put in hospital-I developed acute renal failure. Was too ill to participate in this service and called and told them this. They said they would freeze my account for 3 months until i got better. I continued to decline and in a month I again contacted them saying I was no better and this was going to be a long chronic illness and i desperately needed my money refunded to pay for my medical expenses.
My Dr. wrote them as well saying I would be unable to participate due to my illness now or the forseeable future and the right thing to do would be to refund her money.
While Events & Adventures acknowledged I never attended an event and would never attend an event, they flatly denied refunding ANY of my money and CONTINUED to take out the $30 each month-saying sorry, but that was in the agreement to, whether I went or not (even though the $30 was for expenses of the events)
This organization has an "F" with the Better Business Bureau. New stories have been done on them warning of the exact same problem I had--no refunding of money, high pressure sales tactics, misrepresenting who clients were (i was told they were all Drsl. and attorneys and equally men to women and have since learned NONE of that is true)
I would like for any portion of my $$2300 refunded back to me. I told them I would file a complaint with the BBB and they said they could care less. They do not seem to care they have a horrible reputation. The BBB could not get anywhere with them either.
