Amy Hanford and her son Cody sub let my apt in NYC. They were staying in NYC because Cody was in the cast of The Little Mermaid on Broadway, until he thankfully outgrew his part (I can only imagine the damage they would have done if they stayed longer). They trashed the apartment; broken bed, two lamps and two chairs. Left me with a mouse infestation because they left food rotting in the kitchen. Left all their garbage and junk in the apt for me to clean up. They didn't pay the last months rent or the bills they were responsible for($250 phone bill).

When my neighbors came to the apartment to complain about the noise they were making she showed up at the door very drunk and belligerent or she had her young son answer the door while she whispered to him what to say. When my neighbors asked for my cell phone # she lied and said she didn't have it, and even lied saying they were just visiting.

This woman is completely irresponsible, a pathological liar and apparently has a drinking problem. She damaged my apt and most things in it and acted like nothing happened.
MAJOR WARNING!!! Don't trust these people!

Christopher's scam

AUTHOR: Joanne - Collierville (U.S.A.)

I am confused by this report since I came to the apartment for a couple of days so Amy could go away on business. You entered the apartment while we were there and it is my understanding that you came once a week from your parents house to get your mail and pick up papers or clothes. I am also confused about your comment about the phone, since it was unplugged and never used. Is this complaint just so you don't have to return the security deposit? It is my understanding that you still owe this to Amy. Maybe someone needs to report you as the person who is the scammer.

So TRUE, Beware of these HANFORDS!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - Memphis (U.S.A.)

I have first hand knowledge of something similar happening in Wilmington NC. The hotel/apartment was paid for so at least that didn't come into jeopardy. I will say this the place was left in such disarray, that an outside cleaning company had to be called in to clean and disinfect the place.

Seems like a scam...how does this make sense?!?!

AUTHOR: ST - memphis (United States of America)

Can I ask why legal action wasn't taken? Seems to me that if you let them sublet your apartment, and things were trashed, broken, and in disarray upon your return as you say, you would have sued them for the damages. Broken bed, 2 lamps, 2 chairs, and a mouse infestation are damages that you should have filed a suit for, not to mention the last months rent and bills.

Also, if she came to the door drunk and your apartment was in such bad disarray, why would you (or your "neighbors"), not file some kind of child endangerment suit? If a parent of a minor has "a drinking problem" as you make claim, then why not have her arrested?
Were pictures taken of the "damage" and "infestation" and "all their garbage and junk" that was left? Because if all this was true, I'd love to see them. If all this is true, unless you are just a complete moron, there is no way you wouldn't take pictures of all this "damage".

Seems like going on ripoffreport and filing a claim that is unsubstantiated and making such claims about a person would be a hoax. No legal action was taken?!?! How does that make sense if the claims are true. I don't know what your rent or furniture is worth but here's just a guess:
1 month rent in NYC= $800-$1500 (guesstimate based on having lived in NYC for a period of time)
Phone bill= $250 (as you stated)
Bed= $500-$1200 (depending on what was actually damaged)
Lamps= $25 x 2 (guesstimate)
Chairs= $50 x 2 (guesstimate)
Mouse removal/extermination= $250-$500 (depending on size of "infestation")
Misc. Cleaning Supplies= $100 (as you had to clean up upon your return. this could be febreeze, bleach, scrubs, trashbags, etc)
Security Deposit= $500 (i assume if it was as bad as you claim there would be no chance you got your security deposit back)
Total: $2,550-$4,200

You were out that much money and all you did was go on ripoffreport.com?!?!?!

Seems more than a little fishy to me.
