Really? "embred"?? Did you mean "inbred"? FYI...No inbreeding in my family, and no one in my family is a "hillbilly". Where did you get that??
The bottom line here is that YOU failed to PROPERLY inspect your furniture BEFORE signing for it. That is the LEGAL issue here, REGARDLESS of the "reason"?
Then, for being so "intelligent" you really didn't know how to handle this to get a satisfactory resolution in a timely manner.
If you charged the purchase to your Dillards charge, just dispute the charge. Done. Full refund, return the defective/damaged items.
You ASSUMED that the delivery guys were Dillards employees. For being so smart, you don't know the importance of this distinction as to whether or not the delivery crew were employyees of Dillards or independent contractors. MOST major stores use contractors for delivery and set up of furniture and appliances.
It seems like you have more money than sense. This I get from the point you made where you would have accepted half of your money back. That's just plain stupid. I would demand, repair or replacement or full refund. That's it.
I can guarantee you that if I was in that position I would have had this issue resolved inside of a week. That is because I am agressive, and know my legal rights. You have to get in someone's face as soon as they give you the runaround.
The bottom line here is that you are clueless overall. That is the problem. Maybe YOU are the "embred" hillbilly!
I was very offended by the corny comments embred hillbilly, illiterate, etc. I happened to be up 5:00 am when I had posted. First you asked if it was contractors that delivered for dilllards. I was told it's dillards own delivery crew. I also wanted to clear up why I wouldn't supervise the delivery and assembling of the furniture. The fact of the matter is I had two different bedroom sets being delivered and assembled in two different rooms one upstairs and one downstairs. I stayed in the downstairs room supervising the one guy and the other guy went upstairs and I can't be in two places at once. I should be able to have a professional delivery team perform their work with integrity & not be babysitted. Shortly after the guy completed the downstairs the guy went upstairs to assist in the assmbly of the other bedroom set. They came down and asked me to examine the furniture for any marks tears chips etc. I looked over the furniture never lifting the mattress and signed their paper. Then you asked why I asked for half. I asked for half because they said this bed is discontinued and I have the whole matching set and don't want to break it up. The frame was specially made for this bed and so not just any frame would work. I made a mistake saying duck tape it's not a word I use frequently. These guys had no right being deceptive tightening the screws to the point it split the frame and side rails. They tried to cover up their mistake by wrapping duct tape around the boards and placing the mattress over it. I'll send them a certified letter and see if I get a response, if not I'll hire an attorney!
