I have had a JC Penney credit card for many years, and have always stayed way below my credit limit, always paid my bill on time, and always sent more than the minimum amount due every month. You can imagine my surprise when all of a sudden, I receive a notice that that my credit line is going to automatically reduced to the amount equal to my outstanding balance. Apparently, after reviewing my entire credit history for some reason, without even informing me, they decided that I have "credit characteristics that do not score well in relation to other customers".

I have sent a reply to Penney's that they can now reduce my credit limit all the way to $0, and closed my account. I will never set foot again in a Penney's or Eckerd's if this is how they choose to treat customers that have been with them for 15 years.

item # 14 on your terms and conditions states that GEMB has permission to review your credit report whenever they want to. if you filed bankruptcy, if you had another card overdue, if you had a car repossesed, these are things they want to know. before you default on their card too.

NOTE:: these "reviews" are soft hits and do NOT affect your credit score. no one but you, gemb, and ur credit bureau can see these inquiries.
