JC Penny Homestore Pleasanton, CA Manager called me a liar and a cheat and refused to refund my TWO brand new, unopened comforter sets! PLeasanton, CA California

DO NOT buy anything from JC Penny homestore, JC PENNY, or JC Penny.com, i.e. JC Penny Catalog...They refused to refund my two comforter items that I had ordered online, Even though I had NEVER opened THem!!!!

First of all, for returns, it is the manager that insepects them. A blond 30's old lady with a large fake smile came in and spent FIVE minuetes looking over the items, that have NEVER been opened, for spots, stains, etc. When she couldn't find anything she looked went back to the front of the comforter where she had started from and looked over it AGAIN.

Finally, she found a dustball (WHich i presume came from it being stored in the warehouse) and REFUSED to return my item, saying that it was dirty and that I had used it, EVEN though the seal of the comforter was still in place.

I have worked at Nordstorm's for two years so I KNOW customer service. THis lady had NONE. She made a scene as if it was my fault, and called me "SNOTTY" twice.

She refused to refund. I thought that this was ONLY the JC Penny in my town. HOWeVER, after hearing horror stories of stingy customer service people, I realize that JC penny doesn't give a crap about customer service. In addition, they ALSO have falling market shares and refuse to pretty much refund anything that is not 100% new. Heck, even the "new" off the shevles items aren't new, they have invisible layers of dust that the customer service people or manager would use to make a case against returning my item.

I was cheated out of $ 130. I am OUTRAGED and am NEVER shopping at JC PENNY again.

What Ever Happened To "The Customer Is Always Right"!

Unless you contact their Home Office with your complaint, they will continue to get away with this. When I worked with the public the first thing I was taught was "The customer Is Always Right"! In your case you were called " Snotty". Try being called a B**** Unfortunatly this doesn't just apply to Department Stores. This is becoming practice in every aspect of business. What happened to Doctor, Patient confidenality? Go to any physicans office or hospital and you will hear medical staff gossiping about the patient. School staf that can't go through a day without talking S*** about a student or their parent and when you walk uinto the office you know who the student or parent is that they are talking about. School staff that starts rumors about students that are not true or allow bullying and get away with it because they hide behind the school district. My grandfather passed away 6 months ago and all of his credit card compinies and other businesses that needed to be contacted were sent a copy of his Death Certificate. They still call wanting to speak with him. When I explain to them who I am and that I am handeling his Estate they get RUDE and DEMAND!! to speak with him. I had to get RUDE with them just to get them to listen. I told them that he is DECEASED!! Then they say "Oh yes I see that notated here". The call should have never been made. There has to be something we can do to get customer service and common sence back into the work world.

I never understood why in the states you can return anything anytime you want. Now I don't like JC Penny's but that's another matter. I'm currently overseas in the military and many of the countries I've been too, you only return something if there is a reason your not satisfied stemming from something the company did.

All these people that take clothes home and return em 2 months later?

It's good customer service but NOT REQUIRED! If you don't want something don't buy it, they didn't MAKE you buy it so you shouldn't want to MAKE them take it back.
