Just as an update, Kohl's did finally send me a check for the stolen amount of $5.01, only after I contacted the Attorney General office in both New Jersey and Wisconsin, and threatened to sue for the amount due. To those of you who wrote rebuttals claiming that i was wasting my time pursuing such a small amount, and claiming that their policy was "no refunds whatsoever for any reason"-------no business has the right to to steal from their customers. If they refuse to honor your gift card for any reason other than it being expired, they certainly do owe a refund. Those with the "why bother" attitude are unfortunately the cause of this attempted money grab. Kohl's is hoping that customers will do just that; not bother to pursue a refund for such a small amount. If they can get away with stealing $5.00 from one million customer's, thats quite a windfall. So I did bother, I got my refund, complaints are on file with the office of the attorney general, and therefore the next person who they try to rip off will have an easier time getting their rightfully due refund. My mom raised me to do the right thing, and I expect others to do right by me. you can bury your head in the sand and contribute to the problem, or you could spend some of you precious time to see that the right thing gets done.
