Dear Sir:
Re: Complaint on Billing with Old Navy A/c # 6018 xxx 3578 for DENVER F. EDWARDS
On 05/25/04, while shopping at Old Navy store located at 159 –18 Jamaica Avenue, NY 11423, Tel # (718) 297- 2511, I was offered an Old Navy credit card in sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($300) with the above A/c #. From my records, I made purchases of the following using this card:
Date Value of Purchase Paid on Statement dated Personal Check #
05/25/04 $50.80 06/22/04 179
08/14/04 $41.70 08/22/04 204
To the best of my knowledge and my records, I have not been able to use the Old Navy card to make purchases at the store as after trying at least three different times, I was told by the cashier that the payment could not be processed then I resorted to use my Chase Visa card to effect these payments. The records will bear these out:
Date Value of Purchase Chase Visa Card #..2086
11/24/04 $27.16 Trans # 9783
02/25/05 $20.52 Trans # 8514
04/01/05 $35.85 Trans # 2980
04/23/05 $62.45 Trans # 0170
04/30/05 $25.82 Trans # 5281
05/13/05 $16.27 Trans # 1408
05/22/05 $ 5.70 Trans # 6301
To my dismay, stress and embarrassment, I have received three notification letters from a Collection Agency called Universal Fidelity LP purporting to act on behalf of Old Navy to collect sums outstanding on my A/C # C11A96xxxxx3578 of $ 142.30. First I must state that the two accounts #’s are not identical; compare the numbers. This company has made numerous calls to my house in complete annoyance; at various times in which I have been inconvenienced and sometimes have awoken me from my sleep. They have caused me great distress and preventing me from enjoying the confines and privacy of my house without undue molestation. I have spoken to a few of the callers who have not been able to substantiate the claims and some had referred me to the Old Nay’s Account

Department. I have contacted the Old Navy’s department and they referred me back to the Collection Agency without verifying how I came to be billed. In fact, the person in the accounts Department at Old Navy stated to me that the sum outstanding was $80; a different figure than what the Collection Agency was requesting.
I thought that under any properly thought out law one would have been entitled to due process : i.e. since I have been living at this address from August, 2003 until now, bills should have been sent requesting payment, in addition; my telephone # has not changed since I have lived at this address (718) 4646307), why has not Old Navy called as a reminder that I had such payments overdue?. Also, since I am contesting that I am not aware of such purchases, why is not evidence produced e.g. my signature attesting that I actually did purchase these goods before a Collection Agency be hired to collect. I was even rudely told by the Agent’s official that, “If I did not pay, then I will see what it will do to my creditâ€.
Even after all this ordeal, I still remained a loyal shopper to this company, maybe foolishly, but I am not blaming the Company but the ill-equipped personnel that are allowed to manage the accounts of this company as Old Navy do sell some fine quality products.
Kindly investigate on my behalf. The company should have an obligation to produce the evidence to substantiate their claims before they are able to sully, destroy the reputation and credit of their customers.
Yours truly,

As an employee of Old Navy for almost 3 years, I thank you for seeing that problems with our credit card are in no way directly related to Old Navy or any of its store employees. I thank you for not blaming Old Navy. Even I must admit that Old Navy has a crappy credit card company in charge of it's card.
