I went to on target on west main in kalamazoo, and was shocked by the service if you would call it that. I went into the store a few months ago to purchace a shotgun in which I was successful. The gun was 330.oo.
A few weeks later I went to the same store and walked around for what seemed like forever before I was helped. When the employee finally came to help me I told him what I needed which was another barrell that would cost another 200.oo.
When I was in the store talking to him I spoke of a minor problem, and that was that I didnt know what was wrong with the shotgun plug which is a peice of plastic about 7 inches long. I told him that i didnt know what was wrong with it and was wondering if he could take a look, but it was not a big deal if there was no solution.
So I waited and waited and waited until he finally came back about 30 minutes later. He told me that the plastic plug was the wrong size and that he had to shave some of it off. Keep in mind that I didnt authorize him to do this. A shotgun plug would normally cost about 3-5 dollars.
When he told me he wanted 10 dollars for the shaving of the plastic I wanted to flip, but he insisted that it was a 10 dollar fix. Who in their right mind would pay 10 dollars for something they themselves could have done? surely not me. I figured that since I have spent 530.00 on the gun that something so simple would have been done for free. To add to it I didnt even tell him to fabricate anything. I believe this buisness is out to get easy money and rip people off any way possible. Please dont let anyone else fall into their little trap.

As a non-gun owner it seems that a gun should not be adjusted anyway. It seems that it could make the gun defective and dangerous. Thereby placing the liability on Target.
What if that gun now explodes when you try to shoot it? Target should be held accountable for adjusting gun.
I cannot even fathom that they sell shotguns! Incredible!

Target has zero tolerence to violence. They have no guns in there sporting good department. In fact they barley have fishing gear to choose from so I shop else where. I wish they did have a better sporting goods section.
I am a avid hunter. I would have taken or sent the gun to the manufacturer to be on the safe side.

Mark is right about ' On Target ', which is a gun shop in Kalamazoo, MI. It's a decent little shop, but the service department will try to sell you on services that are unnecessary.
But if you go into it knowing they need to make money to keep their doors open, know also that there are some people who do not know how to properly care for their guns, and they need a "full-service" sort of repair shop. The shop was basically just telling him that if they took care of the barrel plug, he would be paying a markup vs. doing it himself.
It is notable that Mark spent $500+ and should have been offered a replacement plug. But, try to go to any store to buy a $500 tv, then scream because they won't give you the $10 extension cord that you demand to have free. Unfortunately for all consumers, spending $500 no longer entitles us to demand free gifts or behave like a high-roller.

As a customer of On Target I would also like to offer my feedback towards your situation. Did you even attempt to sit back and read your own words? Grow up a little bit and try to think about your situation from another persons perspective. You were disappointed by the speed of service but On Target ALWAYS has available employees standing right behind the gun counters.
Granted you may sometimes need to walk at least 20 whole feet to get their attention but you should keep in mind that they are managing thousands of firearms at any given time, and if you are there during a time where there is a staff shortage or when the floor is swamped with people their service may require that you go out of your way to get some attention.
If the floor is not busy employees are usually occupied with organizing or cleaning or just generally trying to keep a general eye on customers (remember that this store is a firearms dealer requiring that all customers must be watched all the times, which means that employees will not always be jumping around from customer to customer.)Next you are complaining that you spent $330.00 on a gun and that you wanted another $200.00 barrel. Sorry to inform you good sir but you choose to spend your money on the gun and a barrel just like you choose to buy a house or a car. If you go to a car dealership and buy a car with your own money no one will feel bad for you. Is this situation any different? You claim in your next complaint that “I
spoke of a minor problem, and that was that I didnt know what was wrong with the shotgun plug which is a peice of plastic about 7 inches long. I told him that i didnt know what was wrong with it and was wondering if he could take a look, but it was not a big deal if there was no solution. So I waited and waited and waited until he finally came back about 30 minutes later. He told me that the plastic plug was the wrong size and that he had to shave some of it off.” After this you were upset because the employee fixed your problem and charged you a whole $10.00 to do it. You complained that you could have fixed the problem yourself but obviously I do not believe this was the case because if you could have fixed the problem you wouldn’t have been asking the employee to do it for you. I will once again compare your situation to a car. In your situation you purchase a vehicle and then some aftermarket accessories for it. You then drive off the lot and discover that your tires are not wearing evenly. You bring the car back to the dealership and they discover for you that your alignment is off.
You become upset because the employee is charging you to fix the alignment instead of giving you a print out with the instructions stating which tie rod ends you should adjust at home at your own leisure. Granted the employee should have consulted you before performing the $10.00 worth of work...but really? You’re complaining that they fixed your problem for you when you sent them back with the part in the first place. Perhaps you were not clear communicating what you wanted done with the plug. Perhaps the employee simply thought that you wanted the broken part fixed and that was why you were handing it to him, and as far as a business just wanting money.....I do believe that every business has to charge for goods and services in order to BE a business. Next time you want to spend your time complaining about how terrible your life is because you have to pay for the things you purchase perhaps you should consider how this looks from another persons point of view. I hope your expensive lifesytle works out better for you in the future.
