You know I just don't get it, why does no one take responsiblity for themselves. You said yourself that Kmart and Walmart sell the same merchandise, and without your receipt how is Target to know that you just didn't buy it at Kmart or Walmart? You don't have a receipt, therefore you can't even prove that you just didn't steal it right off the shelves.

I couldn't even guess how many people rip off Target, I don't blame Target. Oh and good comparison, I don't know what Walmart and Kmart are like where you live, but there is no comparison here.

You think asking the gift giver for the receipt is rude huh? How about you getting mad over a return that you don't have a receipt for (and getting the manager involved).

So your not going to shop at Target for $16.00, your loss! I don't want to see greedy little people like you while I'm shopping anyway, give your return to charity.

Oh and by the way do you know that Target contributes over 1 million dollars a week to charity, do you realize that is over 50 million a year if not more. Sir, I suggest you look at the big picture, and consider more than just your little $16.00 return before you make such a stink.

I don't think it's the amount ($16.00), It's the assumption the the consumer is a crook. "How do they know you didn't steal it right off the shelves?" I resent the suggestion. Maybe if Target is saturated with paranoia, they shouldn't be in business. Better to shop at a store that accepts responsibility for the products they sell, than one who offloads this responsibility to their customers.

What year do you live in, wish I could be there. Its not 1950 anymore, have you seen the news!

Target isn't the only retailer to snag their customers for returns done without a receipt, have you ever read Kmart and Walmarts ripoff reports.

And you've got to be joking if you think that one $16.00 return was the only one. I'm sure Target loses millions of dollars a day in returns (money they could and do put into charities).

Oh and in case you didn't know Target does not make most of the products that are sold at the store, so I suggest that you take up any gripes you have about the products with the company that made the product. But hey limit yourself to where you shop your only inconviencing yourself.

Hey all I'm trying to say is the enconomy is slowing down out there and with people like you trying to slow it down more, I get worried about good companies like Target, that contribute alot, and give jobs to millions of people, whats going to happen if they do go out of business, because of your silly $16.00 return for which it was your fault because you didn't
have the receipt.

Oh well guess it doesn't matter if they let everyone who didn't have a receipt return their products they'd probably go out of business anyway.

Yeah, you're probably right- it's OK to use any excuse to rip someone off if you can, don't worry about being honest. It's probably better to return to the same store and get ripped off over and over because it's more convenient. Pity us poor fools who still believe that without customers, stores would go out of business, and that stores that provide poor service eventually lose the customers they need to survive. What rational person
would return to a store that has proven they will not stand behind the products they sell, or provide the most basic assurances the customer won't be shafted after the transaction, especially when they can get the same product from a competitor who will?

Knowing what the $16.00 dollar item was would make it a lot easier to respond of maybe why they wouldn't do anything for you. Is there a reason this significant detail was left out?

What ever it was that this person was trying to return would make no difference, as of November 1st Target changed their return policy so that they no longer accept returns without a reciept, which by the way brings them in line with the return policy of most other stores.

You said that the item was a $16 gift. Hello!! You haven't lost anything but your mind! Most stores do not accept exchanges without reciepts, its not being paranoid, its business survival. I know this may come as a surprise, but some people are dishonest and will try to screw "the man". So, heres my consumer suggestion: be honest, keep your reciept, and if you can't return the item that was a gift, get a grip on the drama and remember that you didn't lose any money. Thus endeth the sermon!
