I am yet another college student who got ripped off by this company. It all started when two girls knocked on my door and told me that they were in a competition against the guys to see who could get more points and win a free trip to Cancun. Since it is illegal to solicit at the dorms, the girls immediately asked to come in to my room and walked in without my permission. I did not think anything of it at the moment. They asked for my help, for water, high-fives, and were really cheerfull the whole time. Finally, it came down to the girls trying to convince me to buy two magazine subscriptions from them saying that it would help them get points. As a college student, I am struggling to not spend my money on useless things, so I kept insisting that I did not have money and I was sorry but I could not help them. The girls were obviously trained for this and convinced me by saying that all I had to do was write a check and that the company would call me within 3 days to confirm the order and that I could cancell it at the moment. They also said that they would still get all the points even though I had cancelled the order. Needless to say, I gave in and gave them a check for $70.00 dollars, signed where they told me to sign the receipt (which i did not get) and just as the girls were getting ready to leave, I asked for the company's phone number because something did not feel right about the whole deal. The girls made the mistake of giving me someone else's receipt, in which the phone number is listed. I should have read it right away.

I remember thinking so many times how I should have cancelled the check because it just gave me a bad feeling. On January 24th my check was cashed. I did not receive a call from them, or any kind of notice that this would be done. I took the receipt and called the company immediately and demanded for my order to be cancelled. The girl said it could not be done because of the company's 3-day cancellation policy, which I was totally unaware off since I did not have MY receipt. She then told me to write to some guy, head of the company, to ask to reconsider my case and cancell my order. That is when I decided to look at the receipt. The receipt tells you everything the seller ommits, when to cancel, how to cancel, and how, in case you cancel your order, the seller will not get any points from the buyer. Which tells me: This company lied to me, stole my money and scammed me. Just FYI, I still have not gotten the magazines either.

As recommended by the dorm's staff, I called the police and reported my case. A polife officer was sent to see me and analyzed the case with me. He says there is nothing he could do because I DID sign MY receipt and therefore it could not be considered theft. And it is now that I understand why the girls directed my attention to the signature line, why they lied about the trip points, and why they did not give me my receipt.

Really, I do not care if I don't get my money back, as for the magazines, I'll take them, if they ever arrive, and they better arrive because I payed for them. All that I want is to put an end to this situation. This company is using "dirty tricks" to get our money and there must be some way it can be stopped. If there is any possible way, I would appreciate some feedback!
