...for all the stories I have read like this.
Yours was entertaining to read however, because it's clear that you have a good sense of humor, and you hold your head up despite adversity. I like that.
As to your current issue, where you are being hounded for tuition by the credit union, it gets a little more sticky, because you are local to them. You are more likely than most to be gone after more fiercely than they would those from outside the general vicinity of Salt Lake City.
Hopefully, you have kept all the records of your wonderful pay that you received for all the time that you worked there, and copies of the contract(s) you signed. If so, I would bide my time and see what they do. It's highly possible that they will seek a judgment, and if so, I would advise you to seek the wisdom and advice of an Attorney.
Don't necessarily hire one, unless they can assure you that they can wiggle you out out of the obligation. Hindsight is 20/20, as we all know.
My personal feeling is that if a Judge were informed in the slightest to the practices of this horrible company, and the way they rope people into economic submission, combined with a very well publicized record of abusing people who are simply trying to improve their lives, and then forcing them to weeks upon weeks of little or no pay, it would be tossed out.
I have nothing but contempt for CR England, despite the fact that I have never had any association with them, because I have read so much in regard to the misery that people have endured at the hands of those that run that slave ship.
Right here on this site, is a testimonial by a woman who was hired along with her husband, but split up for training. She was placed with a male trainer, who violently raped her, and CR England fired her for it.
I remember a few years back, reading a story that made all the national networks, of a desperate man who CR England was attempting to fire, and when he had run out fuel because they had cut off his fuel card, he basically went into stand-off mode with police out of pure desperation. After all that he had been through with that company, he still wanted to try and keep working.
All of this goes to describe a company that is only interested in making as much cash off as many people as they can, without taking any care whatsoever in seeing to it that people are treated like humans.
They do not screen those that train other drivers. They do not pay a living wage to most of their drivers. They constantly advertise for drivers, and bank on the ignorance of people, unaware to the pitfalls that exist in regard to that company, a whole as wide as the Grand Canyon.
The day that CR England closes it's doors, will be as big a triumph for the trucking industry, as it may have been to this nation, when the Civil War ended.
To anyone reading this thread, don't think you are exempt or can avoid what thousands of people have gone through with this company. Don't pick up the phone and allow them to sell you to them.
As I always offer, you can disregard a few negative reports, but you can't ignore hundreds or thousands. Run the name of this company through a search engine, and spend a little time reading about them.
And then try to imagine how many people who have been victimized by them, did not file reports about them on sites like this. They couldn't afford their electric bill, much less internet service after leaving CR England.
"Tiredofallthebull", I wish you the best, and I hope everything stays on track for you. At least the good that came out of your experience, was that you are back in a truck, and making a decent living.
