I'll try to respond to your complaint item by item.
1) If a Register Reward does not print, and qualifying merchandise was purchased, there are 3 possibilities.
a) A Register Reward from the same manufacturer was used in the transaction.
b) The Catalina Printer is not working; ask (politely) to try the transaction at another register. (happens less than 1% of the time)
c) The offer is currently not printing due to programming errors with the Catalina software; A form can be printed out that you can mail in to receive your coupon.
2) Certainly no one should treat you as a criminal. However, there are certain stipulations on the coupons that must be followed. One of those is the limiting of Register Reward coupons to the number of items purchased. If you find that you are short by an item or two, just pick up a pack of gum to even it out.
3) Walgreens is not allowed to redeem the coupon for less than the stated amount on the Register Reward.
4) I covered this above.
5) At my store, I rarely (if ever) accept expired coupons. It is an illegal practice, that could get both myself and the company into trouble.
6) I apologize that you were unable to talk to someone to voice your complaints about. Certainly as a whole, Walgreens are known for exceptional customer service. It's unfortunate that one store is not following the lead of generations of leaders before them.
7) I do know that there have been several complaints regarding the Register Reward program. There have also been many people who are able to use it within the limitations of the system and enjoy it wholeheartedly. Having said that, our corporate office is always looking at ways to improve existing programs. We recently took down our rebate program in part because of customers who did not like the program.
I hope this helps with your frustration, and I certainly hope that you are able to enjoy being a Walgreens customer once more.
