I bought a prescription for my wife @ Walgreens on June 6, 2011. They charged me for the generic prescription drug CARBAMAZEPINE 200 mg. 60 capsules the price of $ 92.04 .
I checked online and found out that the same drug is selling for $ 4.00 @ WALMART.
I called the Manager of Walgreens and told him about this problem and the price difference .He checked with the pharmacy and said he can't do anything about it. Even though we were regular customers of his pharmacy and his store he did not care about doing things right.
I told him that I will definitely take my business elsewhere. I can understand a little profit 10-20 dollars but charging $ 88.00 more than others should definitely be classified as a RIP OFF Company store.

It is not Walgreens fault that you didn't ask your doctor about information on a generic. H**l you could have researched yourself. They don't owe you anything, and you weren't ripped off. You just found a product some where else cheaper. Now your smarter for it. At least I hope so.

- There is a concept in business called a "Loss Leader" that is a store is willing to take a "loss" on one (or a group of items) in order to try and get you as a customer. Because if they get you as a customer you will spend more money for them and in the end they make more money. After all if you transferred your prescription to Walmart wouldn't you have a tendency to spend more money there as well?
I can just about guarantee you that not only is Walgreens not making an $88 profit, Walmart is probably loosing money on each of these $4 prescriptions.
Anyways this is not a RipOff. If you can get them cheaper at Walmart then go buy them at Walmart. I would bet that if you checked out other pharmacies as well and tried to get them to match the $4 prescriptions they would tell you that it is impossible as well.

I looked up the cost yet could not find it. I am making a guess this is not a generic drug to treat epilepsy. There are many drugs that do not generics (ie: Avapro, Nexium meds I take). I suggest you speak to your physician to find a compatable drug that is less expensive than this one. I do not think Walgreens is a fault - they just filled the script. I did do a search and Walmart popped up with $10.00 script - clinked on the link and nothing - no information.
