I recently signed up for Gexa Energy my service is to start May 1, 2007. They advertize "no cancellation fee", but in fact there IS if you cancel more than 3 days after your application. You don't find this out until you get the paperwork from them!

They called me several days after I had signed up, saying that I had been "processed", however my credit was questionable I needed to PROVE that I had paid if full my last bill from my previous electric provider or pay a deposit of $200.00. They do state this in their "Terms and Conditions", however I have NEVER been questioned about my credit before,never had to make a deposit, and my credit report (which I obtained about a year ago--and nothing has changed $ -wise since then) was perfect!!!!! I also had "direct withdrawal" from my checking account which was noted on the bill of the previous provider!

Since I hadn't received by bank statment for this months' withdrawal, I decided to pay the $200.00 deposit, then I started to think about it, and thought why should they be able to use the $200.00 deposit? Went to my bank, got a copy of my current statement (which included a withdrawal for a full payment of the bill from my previous electric provider),my bill from my previous provider, and mailed it to Gexa.(But why couln't Gexa have verified my payment to my previous supplier electronically?) I then decided in order to be curteous, I would call them and tell them I had mailed "proof" instead of paying the deposit!! I wsa 13th in line to talk to "customer service", so I elected to use the supposed option of them "calling me back" That was 3 days ago, and I have heard NOTHING!
Even though my service from Gexa has not started yet, from all of the experiences above, I WOULD NOT SIGN UP WITH GEXA ENERGY again, and would cauction anyone being enticed by their low prices, to really do your homework, and know what you're getting into!!!!!!!!!!!!
