When you think you are contacting a contractor, you are actualy contacting Service Magic. Service Magic does not stand behaind the contractors they solicit. In fact, Service Magic charges contractors for leads to provide services, and they even block negative comments about the contractor on there web site.

I needed a contractor to fix a switch on a bathtub. I thought I was getting bids directly from a contractor; however, I contacted Service Magic instead. Service Magic contacted Ford Electric in McKinney, Texas. I explained the problem to one of the owners on the phone and agreed to have Ford come to my home and look at the bathtub switch.

Then the rip-off started. Actually the service and the repair went okay...HOWEVER!!! The part pricing scheme is a rip-off. Two service calls @ $135 each which is a little pricy for less than 30 minutes each time. Then, I was told the part cost $127.02 and the shipping was overnight at 69.40...both incorrect. The part BA-JZB-A  ED6300 sold by Guillens is $86.78...a 46% markup was added to make it $127.02...the shipping was $55.95 and a 24% markup was added to make it 69.40. Besides $270 for service calls, $92.94 additional profit on the parts (told they were at cost) THEN they added an additional 20% for parts and shipping!! Come on...$536.28 to fix a switch in a bathtub, and I even provided tools they need to prevent damage to the woodwork surrounding the tub. Will I use Ford Electric again...NO!

After all the work was done Service Magic sent me a customer service survey. I responded and ask that my comments be posted. Service Magic refused to post the "negative" comments. Will I consider Service Magic again...NO!

Before you decide to contact a contractor through the web, make sure you are not being sent to Service Magic...They do not care how you are treated and they do not stand behind the work of the contractors they represent...its a scam...Service Magic rates zero in customer service.
