I decided to go onto their chat and ask some questions. Please understand that I have not purchased this product and I am aware that if I do they might take 2 or even 3 times the amount out of my account. So I will be purchasing it at Walgreens as they will not get my CC# that way. I have heard some of you on here complaining that they took their fee days even hours after you ordered it. If you read their note under CC payments it clearly states that if you use a CC that is associated with a bank account you will be billed immediately. I have attached a copy of my chat with them about the claims of early cut off of service that some have claimed. People please read all TOS before you purchase anything. And you will not have these types of issues. And then make sure that you check if the item is compatible with your system first.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

Vincent: Hello, how may I help you?

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: I would like more info before purchasing

Vincent: Hi SueEllen

Vincent: Please feel free to ask anything

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: specifically your TOS

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: I hear that people are being cut off before the 1 year due to excessive use

Vincent: If the usage of any customer exceed than the 20 times more than the normal average usage then outgoing calls may be barred .

Vincent: Also in order to keep service customers need to renew license once it expired

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: can you please tell me what is the 20 times normal usage

Vincent: We give free service for first year only

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: yes I know that but what is considered 20 times normal

Vincent: I am
sorry to say but there is no such data available for this . Normally
this is very rare case to happen . Suppose if normal usage is 30
minutes and 20 times will be 20 * 30 minutes = 600 minutes .

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: is that per month or the year

Vincent: In my service period of 2 years with magicjack I  have found only 4 such cases.

Vincent: Above figure is  only the assumption

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: yes
I have heard this to be the case a few times but those were even
admitting that they were using like 2K min a month and they were cut
off at 6 months

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: given a number to call to buy more minutes

Vincent: SueEllen , We are registered with BBB and FCC .

Vincent: There is no such issue at all.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: I have read these reports here http://www.ripoffreport.com/Search/Company/Magic-Jack.aspx

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: with all of those I have only read that a few have been cut off early though

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: I am on a very tight budget and can not afford to purchase this product if it is not going to work

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: So you can see how I really must make sure that I will not loose my service half way throughout the first year

Vincent: You can trust on us . We have millions of satisfied customers all around the world.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: I
would feel much better knowing that this product was right for me if I
can read your terms of service before hand that way I know what they
are first

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: where can I find it?

Vincent: Thank you for your patience. I will transfer you to a higher level of support. Please hold while I transfer you.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: thank you

Please wait while I transfer the chat to the best suited site operator.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: hi there Sharon

Sharon: Hello  , my name is Sharon. To better assist you, let me put you on hold while I read your previous chat. Thank you.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: ok take your time

Sharon: Thank you for waiting, Sue.

Sharon: You may visit our Terms Of Service through this link:

Sharon: http://magicjack.com/tos

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: no problem did you understand what I am asking for

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: can you hold on one sec while I read that please

Sharon: Sure. Take your time.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: thank you

Sharon: You're welcome.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: ok done reading

Sharon: Ok, thank you.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: my
main question still remains what is defined as excessive use and how do
I know what 20 times more than the average magicJack's customers usage,
or systematic or intentional misuse is?

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: is this information available

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: and is the usage calculated monthly or yearly?

Sharon: That's
beyond our control here since the system itself will do it
systematically and automatically. Let's just assume that average users
call 8 or 16 hours in a day, and then in a month that would be 240  or
480 hrs/month. Other users or beyond users uses magicJack more than
that time and that's what we called more than a call in a day.

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: ok so is it calculated monthly or yearly

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: BTW that is a lot of usage in a month so I can understand that it would be considered excessive

Sharon: That would be calculated monthly. Yes and I agree with you.

Sharon: Is there anything else I may help you with today?

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: ok that clarifies things up for me a bit thank you

Sharon: You're most welcome, Sue. :)

Sharon: Is there anything else I may help you with today?

SueEllen Grieves-Curl: No that would be all you have a nice day Thank you for answering my question I know it was a hard one to answer.

Sharon: My pleasure to assist you on this matter, Sue.
