We had to move out of our rental house as it was being foreclosed on.  I had used this company before and had had no problems.  So when we had to move again, I called them, but this was a different town.

There was not a problem in the scheduling or price.  They arrived on time and did the move as quickly as the last time.  They didn't have much to move because my husband and I had moved all the valuables beforehand.  All they were there for was to move the big, heavy stuff.

We had recently made a purchase for our daughter of a flip camcorder for Christmas.  We had put it in our dresser in the second drawer of the dresser, under some clothes that was in our master walk in closet, one week before the move.  Nobody had been in our house for that point, until the move.  On the day before Christmas, my husband took out the box and wrapped the camcorder.  The box didn't look like it had been disturbed in any way.  When my daughter opened up the box, it was empty.  My husband and I were floored to find out that the box was empty.

I called up the company and explained to them that nobody had been in the houses from the time we put the camcorder in the dresser to the time it was opened up for Christmas, except for the movers.  The girl who answered the phone said she would tell her boss about it.

I gave the boss a day and a half to call me back.  I didn't hear from him.  I called him back and he listened to what I had to say, but with some objections.  He said the guy had all been working for them for more than 3 years and he had never had any complaints.  Just like he didn't believe me, how could I believe him.  He said he wouldd talk to the owner of the company, but I don't expect that I will be getting any return calls.

If I was burgularized by anybody else, they would have had to pass up alot more expensive items just to get a little camcorder.  What a crock!  All I can say, is don't trust anybody at anytime, or anywhere when it comes to your possessions.  It was a real letdown for Christmas and this will be the one that I won't forget for a long time.

unclear what happened

AUTHOR: axxx - (United States of America)

That stinks - but before you are 100% sure it is the movers....  There are also stories about people buying what they think are electronics are big box stores only to find out that they have an empty box (or sometimes a brick / phnebook) - someone in the back room steals the item then reseals the box and puts it on the shelf.  It could have been the movers - but it also could have never had anything in it.  (checkout consumerist.com - they have several empty box stories)

How can you be sure?

I have no doubt that you were ripped off, but do you have any way to prove it was the movers?   Check out these ripoff reports from people who also got the "empty box surprise" :

Yes, the camcorder was in the box

AUTHOR: carries - kissimmee (United States of America)

My husband had bought the camcorder at Target and when he came home, he opened up the box to show it to me.  So, I do know for a fact, that the camcorder was in the box.  If I had not opened the box, I wouldn't have been so sure of this fact and woudn't have made such a deliberate accusation.  I am most positive of this because they were the only people that were in my house from the purchase to the move to the new house.  If I had been burglarized, the burglars would have passed up alot more expensive stuff and I don't think they would have taken the time to take the camcorder out of the box and then reassemble the box to make it look like nothing was missing.  Plus, it was in such of an out of the way place, that it totally defies logic.  The dresser was in the back of my walk in closet, which is located in my master bathroom, which even my daughter didn't even use.  We didn't have any company that came over the house during that time.  So, I think it's very obvious who the crooks were.

You even said " They didn't have much to move because my husband and I had moved all the valuables beforehand. "

What defies logic is you moved everything but the heavy stuff and left this new purchase in a drawer.  You didn't box up the contents of your drawers?

If I was the mover I too would be questioning your claim.
