Auto Zone Bad service because they pay so cheap! RIPOFF Port Charlotte Florida

My husband had gone to Auto Zone awhile ago for a P/T job, he was insulted when told 6.50 an hour esp since Discount Auto pays over 8.00. Because they are so cheap they have bad service. I ordered parts from a girl who really didn't know what she was doing. Of course she ordered the wrong thing so it cost me a wasted trip with gas over 3.00 a gal since I didn't need what she ordered. It's probably not her fault but where can they get help that knows what they are doing for that pay? My husband knows all about cars & parts & GOOD customer service but was turned down because he wanted decent money. People get fed up with this cutting corners it affects them!

The reason AZ pays so little, is because everyone wants CHEAP parts. Labor is the largest expenditure of any business. If the customer wants CHEAP stuff, the labor to provide CHEAP stuff is going to have to be CHEAP too. Advance sells stuff for a little more, that's why they can pay a little more. NAPA sells high quality parts, and therefore pays it's employees more. In order to sell CHEAP and keep the profit margin, the employer has no choice but to pay CHEAP wages. If you want to earn more money, stop buying CHEAP and start buying quality. Walmart pays their employees less than Target. Target pays them less than Sears. Sears pays less than Nordstroms. Get it? As you get into a store that sells a higher end product, you will be dealing with an employee who also makes more money. You will also find the level of competence and service is higher. This occurs in all businesses. CHEAP has never been equated to GOOD. Notice how a KIA costs less than a MERCEDES? I wonder why nobody complains about the quality of the Benz, but gripe constantly about their little KIA's. One was built by highly paid, highly skilled, competent employees. The other is junk.

As long as there are people stupid enough to work for $6.50 or $8.00 an hour, these places will keep offering it. It is just that simple.
Just say no to working there.
Just say no to shopping there.
That is how things change.
Like Robert said, go to NAPA. You will pay more, but you will be getting the right part the first time, and a better quality part in most cases. And, you will support a higher paid job in the workforce. Win-Win.
Now, a small correction for Robert on wages being the biggest expenditure of a business. That is incorrect, on average.
Labor should represent lesss than 25% of a businesses total overhead cost, with the national average being approx 18%.
The biggest expense of most businesses will be your location such as your rent or mortgage and utilities, etc.
Wal-Mart figured this one out. That is why they now took leasing property out of their business model. They now own ALL locations they operate, so they can control costs and/or "live for free".
They buy the entire shopping center, and lease out enough stores to make their cost ZERO, and they own the property which is an asset instead of a liability.
Just say no to low paying jobs. I would be unemployed and/or homeless before I would let someone exploit me like that. It is just principal here. I made more than $8 /hour 20 years ago! Why would I work for it now?

I did not mean the largest static cost. Obviously the largest cost will in fact be the cost of the product(parts) themselves. Labor is the largest cost to business that can be controlled at the store level though. The store cannot control the cost of utilities, parts, rent, etc. It can however control the cost of labor.
