    Corporate Advocacy Program
I contacted this company regarding a work at home advocacy position.  I was told that they would need my resume and some background information, which seemed normal, so I complied.  They then instructed me to send writing samples to them, and told me that I must do this to continue the interview process.

I complied with this request as well, as they stated that writing letters was a major part of the position.  At this point, I had still been provided no salary information, schedule, etc.

Once I sent my written samples (after being badgered with emails from them to do so), I was given a packet of information which I will be happy to provide to whoever wants it (I did not sign any agreement of confidentiality).  It stated that I must purchase non-exclusive lists of people and businesses to solicit.  Basically, I would have to buy the list and would not get paid for my time.

I feel this is a bait and switch, a work at home scam, and a poorly constructed sales pitch.  I told Ms Kemper I felt she was running a scam and requested no further contact.  Since then I've received 2 emails from her begging me to call on the phone, so that they can state whatever lies they want and I won't have written proof.

Further Information

The company also refuses to share address contact information to make it more difficult to file BBB reports.  If that isn't the sign of a typical scam, what is?

Original poster needs to learn to read

AUTHOR: AS - (USA)

As a contractor of OnPoint for over eight months (and earning paychecks that total 5-digits), I can guarantee that this company is legit.

The original poster has correctly detailed most of the application process, except has noted one fatal error.  The documentation that mentions these "paid" lists is included in the new hire packet with its containing confidentiality agreement.

There is never a time that a contractor will pay anything to OnPoint.  There are no mystery lists to be purchased by a contractor to be able to work.  OnPoint does not "badger" applicants; however, a reminder email will be sent if an applicant fails to submit their writing samples within the alloted time frame.

To all those who have had the misfortune to come across this false report, pay it no mind.  As someone who has worked/contracted for numerous other work-at-home companies, I can say that, not only is it legit, it is the most unique and enjoyable company to be with yet.

A simple google search or trip to a work-at-home forum will show great reviews and testimonials from those who have had the pleasure of joining the ranks of OnPoint.

You are confused

AUTHOR: J.O.B - Hopewell (United States of America)

This should clear up the misunderstanding--

from the website:

Q) Does it cost me anything to work with OnPoint@Home?

A) OnPoint@Home has gone through extensive effort and made a significant investment to generate valuable contact lists and to secure the most efficient and effective technology products in the market. We are happy to make these available to each of our Advocacy Coordinators if they choose, however we require a fee of $50 in consideration of these costs if an Advocacy Coordinator does not complete their first project under the agreed upon terms...................................................................................

That policy is in place to discourage people from accepting a project and quitting before it is finished. I have never heard of anyone having to pay that fee.

Onpoint is a great company to work for, the pay is great and on time. It is absolutely not a scam or a rip off.

The original poster did not read carefully

AUTHOR: wahmof2 - Springdale (United States of America)

I have been contracting with this company for 3 years. They are a legitimate work at home company. When I started the venture of looking for work at home I ran across MANY scams. People who want you to invest money, send them a check, etc... this company does NOT require you to pay for anything. When making phone calls with this company, like any other, you are calling a list of people. How those lists are obtained are obviously up to the company. However, IF you contract with them, they pay you, and you fail to meet your obligations, then you are charged a small fee for all of their effort to put you to work. In all of my years here, I have never heard of anyone who has actually had to pay anything.

I have always been paid on time for every single project that I have worked for them. Plain and simple. We work with clients, those clients require a level of confidentiality. It is understandable and it is that way with almost EVER work at home company I have worked for. It seems to me that the original poster got spooked by some independent contractor wording, and likely has never worked at home before or has never been an IC before.

It is unfortunate that a great work at home company has to endure having their name run through the mud by someone who has no idea what they are talking about. It is difficult enough for us to find legitimate work at home companies. SO please, original poster, do your research! Don't make it even more difficult for those of us who do find good companies to continue finding them because you are uneducated on how the work at home world works.
