Twin Ports Communication Political Calling Superior Wisconsin

I worked at Twin Ports Communication for 2 days. I did political calling for a couple of hours each day.
The days I worked there Thursday, August 23rd and Tuesday August 27th. I went to go pick up my first check and they gave it to me. It was dated the 26th of August. I received it the following Friday.
My boyfriend, his mother and I went to cash my check at Wells Fargo Bank in West Duluth, Mn. where my boyfriends mother has an account and that is where the check is from and they would not cash it because there were insufficiant funds.
So we went back to the business and told them that there were no funds and they told us that the bank in West Duluth would not cash the checks from that company we would have to go to the one in downtown Duluth. So we did.
That bank told us the same exact thing. So we went back to the company and they were not going to do anything about it.
Finally one of the managers took the check and gave me cash. On Tuesday, September 9th I went to go pick up my check and they told me they would not be in until Friday. So on Friday, September 13th I went in to pick up my check and they could not find it. Then the manager looked on the computer and they had no record on the computer that I worked. I worked that day for four hours 8am-12pm and i have witnesses to all of these events.

Were you an Employee or an Independent Contractor?
If you were an employee you can go to your local labor board and file a complaint. If you are an independent contractor you would have to file a small claims case against them for the money owed.
If you don't know what you were classifed as. If your pay stub has deductions for taxes then you are probably an employee. If there are no deductions you are probably an Indendent Contractor.
