Tried to place an order for a UV flashlight with a second day delivery.
When the ordered flashlight didn't show up after the second day, I called the company to inquire about its status. I was informed that it had been arbitrarly voided because it looked "suspicious". No one bothered to contact me by eitherphone or email before canceling. The reason I was given when I reached them by phone was that the order had been place from a computer with a Mexican IP address (I was traveling in Mexico when I attempt to order that product, to be delivered on my return to the US). Note that I had used a US credit card for the order and that the delivery address was in the US.
I think this is extremely unprofessional and will not give this organization any of my business in the future.

- Well it wasn't exactly arbitrary. You were ordering an item from Mexico with a US Credit Card. Whether or not your transaction was fraudulent, that in itself would raise suspicion.
You are upset that they didn't contact you. Where would they get the information to contact you from? Perhaps the information that you entered in on their site. Well if it was a fraudulent charge would you really expect the person they contact to say "Oh yea it is a fraud". No they will say it is a legitimate charge. If someone used your credit card and they let the charge go through in this situation, you would be here screaming that they should have canceled the order.
So while inconvenient, this would hardly be considered a ripoff.

" Note that I had used a US credit card for the order and that the delivery address was in the US. "
Sounds to me like they go the extra mile to prevent credit card fraud. Although you may not realize it, what you did was to mimic a fraudulent transaction. A U.S. credit card used from Mexico, with a delivery address in the U.S. That is exactly what offshore credit card thieves do. They are hoping that no one will bother noticing that their IP address originates outside the U.S.
Frankly, I wish more companies would make this kind of effort to avoid processing orders from stolen card info.

Naturally, like lots of companies doing business on the internet, there is the infrequent attempt to rip off our company. In this case, the order originated from Mexico with a shipment to California sending a red-flag, by someone who didn't show up when I attempted to locate them on whitepages.com. Since we have been taken advantage of in the past, I determined that it was probably someone using a stolen credit card to make the purchase with a 2-day ship. I did attempt to call the person but was unable to make contact, and therefore made a business decision to void the transaction. Once cancelled which was soon after the order was placed the individual would've received an email notifying them of the cancellation, and would've had plenty of time to pick up a UV flashlight from a local Home Depot.
