JERVEY GROUP REFRACTION EYE TEST GREENVILLE, South Carolina

 
I went for yearly eye checkup suggested by my medicare advantage provider, end December 2011.
He performed the medical approved eye testing.
 I had told him I do not wear any glasses although I showed him the glasses what I kept for years but did not need to use.  He said there is no change and the glasses were good, still if I need to use.
 Even after telling this, he performed Refraction test writing glass prescription. He did not tell me that this is not covered by medicare.
When I went to checkout, the billing lady tells me that medicare does not pay refraction testing cost and I have to pay the $ 42 right away. I was very surprised that the doctor did not tell me that medicare does not cover and I did not that test; bust he still did and the prescription he wrote is of no use to me. I paid the $42 with disgust. It was not necessary.
My advise to all health insured people, especially the elderly, is to ask first whether the tests/diagnostics are covered under insurance and are they really necessary.
