Some BK "restaurants" grossly overcharge. For instance they will charge 25% above the advertized price hoping you will not notice. I always notice, and I call BK to complain, but the issues remains unaddressed.

Today, while traveling, I bought one "Whopper Junior" at a BK in Orangeburg, SC (across from Walgreens and BIG LOTS) and the advertized price was $1.49 and they charged me a whole lot more $1.84 which is about 23% above the $1.49 so it is not just sales tax that they charged me. The receipt that I received had no cost nor sales tax breakdown and no numbers at all. It only lists the name of the product and "37 Alesia S" which does not see like the correct address of that BK "restaurant" (eatery). Then there was a 1-866-425-4745 number provided on that "receipt" which when I called it it asked me for an "invitation number" to complete the survey. There is no invitation number on this "receipt", so why do they bother to provide this toll free number, which is not their customer service number. It smells like some BIG SCAM going on at Burger King.

P.S. Here's the "receipt" that I received from BK for a Whopper Jr. that was for sale at $1.49 (up from $0.99 just recently!!) and I was charged $1.84 for it:

BK Receipt

AUTHOR: Brian - Noblesville (United States of America)

The receipt you have is from their drive thru expo printer.  Normally it is taped to the bag and used to verify that you get what you ordered.  37 Alesia S is the name of the cashier signed onto the drive thru register.  Didn't they give you an itemized receipt when you paid?  Didn't you question the amount you were charged if you thought it was too high?  There is the order number on the expo receipt, they might be able to pull up the sales receipt using that.  As for a corporate complaint number, you should be able to find that on the BK website or call and get it from another BK.

I JUST LOVE IT when drive- thrus try to OVERCHARGE ME!

AUTHOR: mr. rik - miami (United States of America)

I really do love it when drive-thrus try to overcharge me, whether out of ignorance or just plain ripoffery.

Just a few days ago at my local bk, I had the coupon for free sammich and fries w purchase of drink.
I ordered the drink and the total read back to me was almost 5 bux.  5 bux for a drink is pretty steep, so I decided to add some extra goodies to my order.  After I ordered several more food items, I did my usual extreme slow creep to the window, (gives them time to cook up the food) then acted like I was digging for my change for a bit.  When they had sufficient time to start bagging up my food, thats when I told em what a rippoff they are and what they could do for me! Now chances are they will probably just pawn this food off to someone else or eat it themselves, but you gotta think of the big pikture, if these dmasses are too stupid to ring up your order correctly, you probly dont wanna be eatin food that was prepared by em!  Another ECOLI FREE day!!!!

A real simple solution.

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (USA)

The solution here is painfully obvious.

Dispute the "overcharge" right there at the drive through window.
Hold up traffic.
Ask for a manager to correct your ticket.

Refuse to pay the inflated amount.

Real simple.

FYI..the "reciept" you scanned in for us was NOT actually your cash reciept as it does NOT show the price paid.

And, it is "advertised", NOT "advertized".

In either case you CHOSE to accept and pay the higher price.
Nobody forced you.

Why don't you just get your Fat a*s out of the car and go inside??

Problem solved.

Some REAL advice

AUTHOR: mr. rik - miami (United States of America)

Let me give you some REAL ADVICE to save you from getting your food "tampered with". As anybody in america should know by now, YOU DONT RAISE A STINK ABOUT YOUR FOOD OR SERVICE OR PRICE IF YOU EVER PLAN ON EATING AT PLACE AGAIN!!! Believe me, as a former manager, I know.

IT's quite alright and appropriate to raise hell (hopefully at peak dining periods) and make a scene if you arent planning on coming back, but being a repeat customer and doing this is hazardous to your health.

I used to contact corporate and bitch and get free coupons, but I always used them at another location if at all.  Best to stay away from restauraunts who show poor service AT ANY LEVEL, as one wise poster noted above.  LIVE TO EAT ANOTHER DAY!
Hey Steve what good is a drive through if you have to "get your fatass" out of the car and go in to take care of business?

Following steves advice will only get you a nice booger in your food, or worse. P.S.  I have a couple buddies who can puke on demand in front of customers if they want to make a restaurant look bad.  It really is a sight to see!

Ah..Steve, the voice of reason..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - North hollywood (USA)

Yes, follow this brain surgeons advice and get your food with an extra serving of snot and spit. Hey..according to his "logic" this will only happen to him once...and then he can spend a few months in jail for shoving a handgun down someones throat...well that is assuming he as some kind of "detector" that informs him whenever someone has tampered with his food..

.. Or better yet..the death penalty or life in prison for killing a BK employee over a few cents complaint.

Problem solved. Simple math.

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (USA)

The OP is just too stupid to pay attention, and do some 3rd grade math.

The tax on that $1.49 burger is about 10 cents.

So now we have approx. $1.59Then add .25 for the cheese.

We now have $1.84!

They always ask "would you like cheese on that"?

Here is where you need to pay attention, use some common sense and understand you are being "upsold".

No rip off.

Just stupidity.

Again.

how to solve this problem

AUTHOR: Jim Martin - Kendallville (USA)

If you keep having the same problem at every bk you go to then just do what anyone with even a shread of common sense would do and

"STOP GOING TO BK!"

Problem solved.

As for the "invitation number", it is usually on the back of the reciept.

What do you consider tampered with??

AUTHOR: Steven - Jacksonville (U.S.A.)

Anybody here ever worked fast food??? To this day I don't eat at McDonalds since flipping burgers there while in high school (16 at the time).

Saw somebody drop a burger on its way to the grill on the floor and then picked up and put on the grill anyway same thing goes for burger patties being dropped on the floor while being flipped and put back on the grill. Customers never knew.

I would bet you would never know if your food was tampered with or not. Only safe way to ensure that is to not get fast food and to cook your own.

Food tampering is a 3rd degree felony in Florida.

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (USA)

These little, immature, uneducated punks like "mr rik" are in for a big suprise when they get busted for these childish antics in the food tampering business.

You can be arrested, and charged with up to a 3rd degree felony for food tampering, AND may have to pay restitution for damages to both the employer and the victim.

Not to mention if you do it to someone like me, your penalty would be much worse. Guaranteed.

And, FYI...I always check my food before eating it for the obvious tampering and contaminants, with the full understanding that all tampering cannot be detected.

And, I'm also smart enough to never order food anywhere after getting on an employee about anything.

I fully understand that most people who work in fast food are genuine losers, usually with no education, or upbringing. In general, fast food workers take that job because they are just too stupid to do anything else, and/or have no goals in life.

The bottom line here is that you work in fast food for a reason.

You are an idiot.

If the truth hurts, change it.

Once again, "mr rik" proves to the world he is a loser, and always will be.

Just knowing all about fast food, and ways to tamper with food tells the tale.

Grow up.

Gee Steve, where do you have left to eat?

AUTHOR: mr rik - miami (USA)

1st of all, I'll give you some homework,  Please direct me to ONE CASE of a fast food worker getting in trouble for food tampering.  Im not saying it hasnt happend, I just want to see if you can find any.

Next catching someone doing this probably takes the same odds as winning the lottery.

Also if your only 16 or so when your working there, I doubt you would ever get charged with a felony.

So my advice to all those in the fast food industry-  Always make sure to take real good care of steve, and the few customers like him!

One of my favorites was the chocolate milkshake surprise!

OK "Mr Rik", here's one I found in less than 5 seconds!

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (USA)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 30 (UPI) -- An employee of a Florida fast-food  restaurant who admitted to putting painkillers in customers' food has been  sentenced to prison, officials say.Woody Duclos was arrested in February after a woman became ill after eating a  sandwich at a Jacksonville Burger King restaurant, WJXT-TV, Jacksonville,  reported Tuesday.Duclos, charged with poisoning food with intent to kill or injure a person,  was sentenced to five years in prison. The 21-year-old woman spit out a blue pill after she took a bite of the  sandwich but suffered a seizure and was taken to a hospital to be treated,  authorities said.Police said the pill was the painkiller hydrocodone.Duclos and another Burger King employee accused of selling him the pills were  fired by the restaurant, WJXT-TV said.

Yep I remember that one

AUTHOR: Steven - Jacksonville (U.S.A.)

But I think you are missing the point Steve. Out of all the people that have gone to BK between January and June of last year (or even up until now) how many people may have had their food tampered with and it went un-noticed or even unprosecuted. You only hear about extreme cases like this because the people doing it were so stupid or careless to get caught.

"I fully understand that most people who work in fast food are genuine losers, usually with no education, or upbringing. "

I think if you will find that most of the people in fast food are working their way through school or retired and doing something to supplement their income. Which statistics do you have to prove your point.

"In general, fast food workers take that job because they are just too stupid to do anything else, and/or have no goals in life."

Based on the statement above I could probably bet that the only thing between you and a job in the fast food industry is your CDL. How can you judge others by saying they are to stupid to do anything else or have no goals when you have gone from OTR trucking and being an owner/operator of your own truck as well as making up to 2500 a week while working in Las Vegas is now scrimping by on jobs that pay less than 15 dollars an hour (before the union takes their 15 to 20 percent cut for dues) and living with his mom and HELPING her with paying her bills. In the eyes of some people that could be seen as being a loser. What are your goals in life Steve other than filing lawsuits and scamming creditors.

What he said.

AUTHOR: mr rik - miami (USA)

Plus Steve the report you posted said the kid had the intent to injure or kill a person. Most people dont wanna go that far, they just wanna make ya puke a lil bit. If those charged would keep their mouth shut, chances are they could place the blame on the food supplier.

Happy Eating!
