I went last year to redeem my free grilled chicken meal with a drink coupons.  I was told (lied to) that they didn't have enough chicken to honor them (even though they had racks and racks of grilled chicken behind the counter).  They asked me to fill out a form with my address, phone number, name and other information and give it to KFC. 

Since they didn't just give me a stamp on my existing coupons, or a new voucher, I knew something was up since I basically had to allow them to do a background check on me in order to receive some dumpy old chicken meals.  I countered them by putting a fake name on my forums, a person that didn't exist and certainly wasn't associated with my address. 

Guess what?  A year later, I am still getting about three pieces of junk mail each week for that person that doesn't exist.  Even more during the holidays and other times of year.  That proves that KFC used the coupon scam as an opportunity to garner our personal information, sell it to third parties that in turn mail us unsolicited offers, scams and junk. 

Others may not have noticed the origins of their junk mail since they used their real names since KFC was dangling free chicken in front of their noses, but I caught them. 

Your chicken wasn't free, you're just not the one that paid for it.  Junk Mailing companies paid for the free chicken when KFC sold them your name and address.
