    ...the right way!

I was in the army and paying money towards my GI bill 100.00 a month for 12 months and I paid taxes on this money. now under the circumstances I was dealing with more on my plate than 80% of the general population. I was discharged from service and given a bus ticket home. I asked for the return of my 1200.00 dollars I invested in the GI Bill and I have been out since 1989 still no money, I feel it is wrong to have to pay for something and not to get a refund by the government. of all institutions I would feel that they don't need my little refund considering i am a tax payer.I would love to have my money back. maybe someone can help?

This is what I did.

AUTHOR: Marc - Makaha (U.S.A.)

I don't know if it will work for you, but in my case it did. I waited three years for my retirement money from the government, so I wrote my Congressman an e-mail. E-mail is good because there is a record of when who wrote what, and when. I got an immediate response and six months later I got my money. The problem is that the government agencies are so huge that they are years behind, and sometimes they need a swift kick in the a** by someone that they can't blow off.

Type of Discharge Matters

AUTHOR: Jules - Hinesville (U.S.A.)

If you recieved anything other than an Honorable or possibly a General Discharge, you do not recieve the GI benefits.  Recheck you DD 214 and see what your status was considering your discharge.  If you were given a bus ticket home, you possibly got in trouble and thrown out, therefore, no benefits.  That's the way it works.
