Federal Government rip-off to consumers "the U.S. Department of State" forces consumers to fill out useless paperwork and pay rip-off fees

In the face of new travel restrictions requiring citizens to carry passports to travel to Mexico, millions of Americans paid the federal government extra fees to make sure they got their passports in time. The problem? The federal government didn't live up to its promise to deliver the expedited passports within 14 days. Instead, Americans paying for two-week service have had to wait a month or more, sometimes having to cancel their travel plans because of the delay.

Now the federal government agrees that people did not get their passports in time after paying to get them early, and that those people are entitled to get their money back, but instead of just refunding the money the government is making these people file written claims and jump through still more bureaucratic red tape. We believe the government should just pay the money it know it owes without making people file claims and go through a lengthy a process to get their refund.

If you or someone you know paid the extra $60 expediting fee to receive your passport within 14 days but did not get it within 14 days, you can help make the federal government pay.

Email classaction@earthlaw.com immediately.

Support a class action to make the government send you a check--you should not have to fill out a bunch of paperwork to get money you are owed.

#1 Consumer Comment

As I Understand It

AUTHOR: Cory - San Antonio (U.S.A.)

There are over 500,000 passports backlogged right now. What do they do? They "relax" the requirements for a given period of time. Who knows how long that will be. Months, years. All you have to show is that you sent in the paperwork for a passport. Pity the poor fool who spent the extra money to "expidite" his paperwork. Now it doesn't matter if you did or didn't. Typical gov'ment operation.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Expideted passport

AUTHOR: Christine - Racine (U.S.A.)

When my husband paid the expedited fee, they told him it should take no longer than four weeks. We got the passport in three.
