Express Consolidation ripoff, scam, con artists non profit ripoff scam Del Ray Beach Florida

In September of 2001, I contacted Express Consolidation because I had fallen behind on my credit card bills because I was trying to finish up college and had some unexpected family expenses. I thought I was doing the right thing. They assured me that it would be good for my credit (I had perfect credit before this trouble) and that they could help me lower interest rates so I could pay off the debts.

They also told me that they were non profit and the service would not cost anything- I guess they forgot about that 40.00/month "administrative fee". So here I am paying these people $250.00 a month for 2 years. After getting out of college and 2 years later I applied for a mortgage. Much to my suprise, my credit was HORRIBLE.

I started contacting my creditors and found out that I owed twice as much as I did when I started the program after paying them almost 6000.00. (This should have had my debts almost paid). Some creditors that I owed 200.00 to when I started, I owed 750.00!!!

So I made a complaint and contacted the better buisness bureau. This was the first time they were ever in a hurry to return my calls. Finally, I found out that they had not submitted the proposals to my creditors and not only were the interest rates not lowered, but they were making late payments that turned into late fees, then over the limit fees. I ended up paying off most of the cards by myself.

I had no choice to because they were getting me farther into debt each month. So I finally paid off my last 2 creditors (which were still more than when I started 3 years ago). I called express for a letter of completion. I waited 3 weeks and all I got from them was a bill. I called back and requested my first payment back because they did not help me AT ALL, and they refused.

I have never experienced anything like this in my life. This was definatly a rip off that hurts innocent people. They take advantage of people who got into a bad situation and are trying to do the right thing.
