the stevie awards?  just because you bought your way into the finals doesn't make your company worth a d**n.  did you win?  i didn't think so.  and just because someone gets a po box doesn't mean they're hiding from someone/thing.  many decent people have po boxes for other reasons.

The true failure

AUTHOR: Kpb - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 25, 2009

As an experienced and informed debt settlement consultant I would have to state that your

EPIC FAIL would be that you have done nothing to get yourself out of debt but spend too much time on a website and only offers limited assistance in this category. I am not Mr. Dumas nor do I know him but I do know that Rise Above Debt is a successful company when it comes to getting people out of debt successfully. So instead of spending that extra money to sue a landlord it should be put to settle those credit card debts so they would no longer exist and you would have the income to pay the landlord that you are now suing because you did not pay him in the first place. Congratulations you are truely one of the examples of Americans FAILING!
Get your priorties straight and if you or anyone felt that one particular company was so horrible more could be done about it, but the thing is when people makes complaints about debt settlement it is because they did not READ their contract, probably did not save as advised, probably did not stay in contact with their company as advised and most importantly did not give it the appropriate amount of time to be resolved. All your failures and not that of a company that you are trying to deface. If I my self had not personally seen a settlement and the official letter for $4200 to be the settlement on $42,000 worth of debt, this is proof that this process works if the cards are played right, and no one should sit at the table not knowing the rules of the game.

I went to their office and viewed the settlement letters, wow, they are for real!!

AUTHOR: Robert Brown Jr - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 30, 2009

My name is Rober Brown, Jr. I just want to share my experience with this company, for what it's worth.

I live in Phoenix, AZ and saw an article about how Rise Above Debt was negotiating settlements for .30-.40 cents on the dollar.

I called them up and found out that they had an office not far from where I live. I met with Rob, who went over my financial situation, and even met the owners. Rob spent a good while on my budget, and then showed me 4 options to get rid of the $48,000 of credit card debt that I had. The only 2 options that made any sense were BK or Debt Settlement. I chose to go with Debt Settlement as I refuse to file BK if I can avoid it.

When Rob brought in the book full of settlement letters that Rise Above Debt had obtained for their clients, I was convinced. Most of the settlements were in the .30-.50 cent range, and I even saw a $20,000 credit card settled for $2,000!!

I hope my program goes that good, but for now, I'm just relieved to have a plan in place and know someone is working hard to help me get out of debt. So far, so good, thanks guys!!

Rise Above Debt Relief is a Finalist for the American Business Awards presented in New York City!!

AUTHOR: JD - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 02, 2009

Jun 02, 2009 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- ARBU | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Rise Above Debt Relief (http://www.riseabovedebtrelief.com/) was named a Finalist in the Customer Service Department of the Year category in The 2009 American Business Awards.
The American Business Awards are the nation's premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit entries to the ABAs - public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Stevie Award winners will be announced during the annual gala on Monday, June 22 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Six-hundred executives from across the U.S.A. are expected to attend. The ceremonies will be broadcast on radio nationwide by the Business TalkRadio Network and hosted by Cheryl Casone of Fox Business Network.

More than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Most Innovative Company, Best Management Team, Best New Product or Service, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program, Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. Rise Above Debt Relief will be competing in the Customer Service Department of the Year category for Financial Services.

Jeff Boulton CEO of Rise Above Debt Relief (http://www.riseabovedebtrelief.com/), "At the end of the day, our focus and theme for our company, which is well known by our employees and our clients/potential clients, is 100% genuine care for those we are working with and serving. Then our statement of principle that demonstrates this theme in our company is people don't care how much we know until they know how much we care! We stand by this theme and principles and will continue to be successful in helping our fellow Americans find a solution to their financial struggles only because we put them first, not the company."

Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among Finalists in final judging that will continue through June 3. Finalists were chosen by business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April through early May.

"Despite very tough economic conditions, many organizations and individuals continue to perform well," said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of The Stevie Awards. "The results of the 2009 ABAs thus far are a testament to the resilience, creativity, and hard work of American organizations, executives, and workers."

"I have to say we are greatly honored to be selected as on of the finalist. We work so hard at trying to make sure the American consumer knows how much we care about serving them. We really strive for that "Ritz Carleton" experience. We try to make sure we do things that no other company would choose to do that would impress our current clients and clients to be. That is where I think our greatest success comes from."

They refunded me ALL my money, thanks guys!!

AUTHOR: Lance - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 01, 2009

I'm sorry you had a bad experience...I actually lost my job 3 months after I started the program with Rise Above Debt Relief, and they quickly refunded my savings that had built up. I asked if I could get some of my enrollment fees back to pay for my BK attorney (even though I knew they were non-refundable), and they said they would review it and if approved, it would take about 90 days.

I actually forgot about it, and 3 months later, I received a check for ALL my fees paid in. I did not expect that at all!! I called to thank them, and they said I was approved because after losing my job, I was going to have to file BK, and they try not to enroll people in the program who eventually file BK. They told me they are trying to help people avoid BK, and don't want to make anyone's situation worse. So that is why they told me they approved the refund.

I have nothing but good things to say about Rise Above Debt Relief even though my situation forced me to quit the program. They told me they have a 100% success rate for people who continue the settlement program, and I desperately wanted to be in that group, but when you have no money, you can't pay the creditors, so BK was my only option. Not happy about it, but oh well.

WHAT A BUNCH OF B.S.

AUTHOR: Mad As Hell - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 30, 2009

RISE ABOVE DEBT CREDIT RELIEF COMPANY IN TEMPE, ARIZONA is a TOTAL RIP OFF!
FIRST. . . . You read the very false advertising they have on line and in the yellow pages promising you they will help you TOTALLY eliminate your debt. . . HA WHAT A JOKE! They also state they will consult with your creditors and settle your debt 30 to 50 percent - they don't tell you that process will take approximately 1-2 years. Yeah. . . That is because the hundreds of dollars your paying is going towards their SERVICE FEE ZERO GOES TOWARD YOUR ACTUAL DEBT.

Then in the mean time you are bombarded with phone calls from your creditors . . . Then you call them and speak with a customer service representative who tells you to screen your calls, block your creditors numbers by investing in a device that would zap auto-dial devices or change your phone number (keep in mind each time you call and believe me you will call - you'll never speak to the same person twice).
SECOND. . . They send you a sixty page booklet that gives you information on charge offs, how to save funds for settlement, debt consolidation vs. debt negotiation, what is bankruptcy, understanding your credit score etc. To sum it up the booklet isn't worth a rats a*s or the company that wrote it for that matter. Its just a bunch of BS.

After one month of this crap I decided I did not want to go this route in trying to eliminate my debt and disenrolled from this program by calling customer service, writing a letter and sending an email. I was then contacted by the vice president, Matt Hanson who states they have other programs I may be interested in and please don't give up and he is there for me . . . GIVE ME A BUCKET AND SOME BOOTS. . . I wrote back and said I was not interested and requested I be refunded the $745 minus the $99 enrollment fee I paid for this LOUSEY service. He wrote back and stated I WOULD BE REFUNDED.
FOUR MONTHS LATER. . . . I am still waiting to be refunded after several attempt to collect.
FINALLY. . . I had enough . . . I called and demanded to speak with Matt Hanson and was told he was not available to speak to me AND I would not be refunded the $745 because it is considered . . .

MONEY EARNED. He wasn't even man enough to get on the phone and tell me this himself, he had a customer service rep deliver the news.
I don't know about you, but $745 is a lot of money too me, especially when I used my unemployment check to pay the fee after unexpectedly being terminated from my job, which was the reason I fell behind in my bills in the first place.
I am now faced with filing BANKRUPTCY.. . and possible prison time. . . Cause I really want to do bodily harm to these crooks that straight out STOLE my money.

SO IF YOUR SUFFERING FINACIAL HARDSHIP. . . RUN . . . DON'T WALK TO A REPTABLE COMPANY THAT HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND AND WONT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CONSUMERS WHO ARE ALREADY SUFFERING FROM FINACIAL HARDSHIP... THEY WILL ONLY MAKE A BAD SITUATION WORSE.

LAST. . . I did consult with the Better Business Bureau before deciding to use this company . . . I have since then filed a Complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the State of Arizona's Attorney General Office. And will seek legal council as soon as I am able to rub two nickels together.

TOTAL RIP OFF COMPANY

Inside Information from Employees

AUTHOR: Porter, Chad, Matt, Tiffanie, Jared, And More - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 22, 2009

John Hastings (John S. Hastings, John Silas Hastings, Jack H.),

We are employees of Rise Above Debt Relief, and we (the employees) have become aware of your libelous attacks and slander against our boss, Jeff Dumas, and the company that pays our salaries, Rise Above Debt Relief.

We don't care what personal issues you have with our boss about your rental eviction situation, but when you start messing with the company we work for, you are messing not only with Jeff, you are messing with us, our spouses, our children, all 67 co-workers, and our livelihood. And we take that very seriously. At a time when businesses are laying off, Rise Above is employing hard working folks and trying to help Americans get back on their feet.

Rise Above Debt Relief, LLC is a shining star in the debt negotiation industry. We have one of the best BBB records in the industry and was just selected as a finalist for the 2009 American Business Awards to be presented in New York, June 22, 2009.

http://www.stevieawards.com/pubs/awards/403_2617_19876.cfm

Just this week, we settled a Bank of America card for William T for $1500, with an original balance of over $10,000. He saved over $8500 and is now out of debt.

So let the attacks end, because you have a personal issue, not one with the company that helps so many financially troubled folks get back on their feet.

Leave it to Dumas to invent a guy to distract you from his faults.

AUTHOR: Jack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Dumas has invented this "John" character from "Los Angeles" to distract you from his own faults. Regardless of the reputation of the BBB (which I am not even complaining about or against) Mr. Dumas operates like a slumlord and his own tenants fears asking for repairs as they were subject to his illegal eviction operations that were exposed here.

"John from L.A." if you truly are a real person, which I fully doubt, then perhaps you will open a NEW report ELSEWHERE on this site about your grievances with a completely separate party and leave this post alone. Otherwise we will all know with absolute certainty that you are one of Dumasses other invented personalities, of which he has many. (Belinda S and Bobby G to name just a few).

#5 Consumer Suggestion

Wow, look at this info I found!!

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Did you know that the Better Business Bureau is just a non-profit organization that is kept in business by the payment of fees by the same companies that they rate for the public? I had a complaint against DISH network and complained to the Better Business Bureau. When I looked up DISH on the BBB website it had given them a "B" rating with 13,160 complaints filed against the company. The explanation was that 12,366 of those complaints were "resolved". Well, I can tell you what resolved means to them. It means that the company contacted you again. It does not mean that the matter was resolved. I plan to never put credence into the opinion of the BBB again and I plan to write a news story regarding this nonprofit SCAM.

These complaints concerned:

BBB info is almost useless...here's why...

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 16, 2009

I was searching this site for info on the BBB and this posting showed, and I thought I would share this important info about my experience...

(and by the way, I don't know anything about these 2 parties, but I have definitely had my nightmares with deadbeat renters who know how to use the court system to buy them extra time before eviction. It's definitely a crapshoot trying to find a good one, and it sounds like this didn't go well...good luck)

http://www.thebluesmokeband.com/bbb.php

The Better Business Bureau:
It's not what you think!
Living a dream, I recently filed a "Fictitious Business Name" with Riverside County in California. This is public information, much like getting a mortgage and transfer of property title. In one sense, this simply means that you get a lot of telemarketing calls. This is all fine and dandy in fact, the fact that there is a wealth of public information out there is somewhat comforting.

Enter The Better Business Bureau. Until last week, I thought that the BBB was a government-run organization, funded by my tax dollars. I thought that it was a neutral observer of business standards and practices, a place where one could get information on a legitimate business or where one could lodge a formal complaint against a shady one. Just about none of this is true.

The BBB is not run by the government, but they do a lot of business with the FTC at least that's what I hear. They are a non-profit, charity organization known as a 501(c)(3). This means that whatever money you donate to their cause is tax-deductible. The money that you donate is supposed to go into programs and charitable causes. The organization is supposed to report their income, report their board of directors, report about their programs, and so on. This information appears on IRS form 990.

990s are public information. So, with my wife's help, I got hold of the 990 for our local BBB. Turns out, they report no income, no board of directors, no contractors who earn over $50,000 per year, and they have no programs. All they appear to have is -$849 in assets. This is, to say the least, shady.

You might ask, "Why is he so interested in the BBB?"

They cold called me. Mind you, this was back when (last week) I thought that they were a legitimate organization. It went something like this:

The "Guy" called and said that he was from the Better Business Bureau. My ears perked up: I thought either I have already done something wrong (!), or that they are a really conscientious organization interested in how I conduct my affairs. He said that he wanted to set up an appointment to visit my business. When I balked, he said that he could just ask me some questions over the phone. So I assented.

He asked questions that were already answered on the county DBA filing, so I answered diligently, thinking that he was probably checking up on me to verify if I had been honest on the DBA application. He finished his simple questions (e.g., do you have employees? How long have you been in business? What is the nature of the business?), and told me:

It costs $465 a year and that will carry you through June 2006. We take credit cards or check by phone.

I was floored. The "Guy" cold-called me and thought that I'd start doling out credit card numbers? Insane. I asked him, "Excuse me, you can't bill?" He answered, "We do credit cards or check by phone." Wary of phishing schemes, I told him that I had no way to know that he was who he claimed to be and that he would have to give me his information and I would call back if I was interested.

He gave me the information, and there started the investigation.

There are a lot of problems, right from the start even before you start reading the complaints against the BBB.

Most importantly, there is the obvious conflict-of-interest problem. They take "subscription" or "membership" donations from businesses. This means that businesses are the BBB's source of income (even though they don't report income). But businesses are their object of complaint. So, if I as a consumer complain to the BBB, I'm complaining about one of their sources of income. Obviously, this is a problem.

The problems run deeper. An hour or so after they talked to me, my business appeared on their web site (if you're interested, find the Southern California BBB site and look for "Bluewood Designs"; I resist linking to them). The information on the site is the information that I told them over the phone.

They never confirmed that information. Furthermore, they assigned me a "BB" rating. This means, paraphrased, that they have no reason to believe that anyone would have trouble doing business with me. This is true, to some extent they have no reason to think much of anything about me because, well, they know virtually nothing about me.

What's curious is that many other local businesses, who are members of the BBB, have "A" or higher ratings. Hmmm. I wonder what my rating would be if I paid for a "membership".

More curious, and again I encourage anyone to look this stuff up, I checked out the local Wal-Mart: they are a "member" of the BBB. They have had one complaint against them, but it apparently was resolved. So, they have an "AA" rating. I checked out the local Lowe's. They have 14 unresolved complaints against them and have an "F" rating. They are not members of the BBB.

What makes this case curious, in my estimation, is the number of lodged complaints. These stores are no more than a couple of miles from each other and so have basically the same customer base. I find it impossible to believe that the BBB has only received one complaint against Wal-Mart and 14 against Lowe's. This makes me suspect that a) the BBB is not recording complaints against their members; b) the BBB is not recording responses from non-members; c) the BBB might be "creating" complaints against non-members. Or some combination of these or others.

That last point is one that I've now read about (check out badbusinessbureau.com for more). Somehow this doesn't seem unreasonable I consider how much due diligence the BBB did to get my business information. I imagine that they do similar diligence on complaints that they receive.

Speaking of how complaints go, a friend of mine, let's call him "Scott", lodged a complaint with the BBB against a local car dealership. The dealership had tried to make him replace a $500 part on his car when it was really just a fuse that had blown. That complaint, on the BBB web site, is listed as resolved. This is probably because "Scott" grew tired of the paperwork and didn't pursue the complaint further. The BBB let it end. The car dealership is a member of the BBB. They have a "B" rating and 14 complaints.

But Scott felt that he had lodged a complaint with a reputable organization and that something might be done about their business practices. This is not the case, for the BBB has no authority over businesses and no significant legal influence with state or county authorities. Yet arguably, they market themselves as having that kind of authority.

This succeeds to dupe consumers into thinking that their complaints will actually be heard by someone who can or will do something about it. In the case of my friend, this stopped him from taking the complaint to an authority, such as the state Attorney General.

There are numerous other resources and anecdotes about the BBB out there on the web. This article aims only to raise a healthy suspicion about the organization and to encourage business owners and consumers to proceed with caution when doing business with the Better Business Bureau.

One final irony: if you have a complaint against the Better Business Bureau, you can't file it with the Better Business Bureau. And just as Groucho Marx once quipped that he would never join a club that would have him as a member, the Better Business Bureau is not a member of its own organization.

Maybe it's all a big joke?

SERIOUSLY? MAN, ARE YOU MESSED UP?!?

AUTHOR: Jack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 15, 2009

EPIC FAIL #1 - First: Both of those "evictions" that you sited indicate that they were "DISMISSED," meaning that YOU FILED THEM (probably MALICIOUSLY) AND LOST. If what you say is true, then how come you lost 2 out of 2 times?

EPIC FAIL #2 - Second: Your quoted reference must be false/made up because your link is broken.

EPIC FAIL #3 - Third: Nothing was EVER mentioned about your "real estate" license. You assumed and mentioned that yourself.

EPIC FAIL #4 - Fourth: You are foolish to believe I am whom you think I am or underestimate what I am lawfully capable of.

EPIC FAIL #5 - Fifth: I see no judgments against either of them.

EPIC FAIL #6 - Sixth: Why does your business have a "D" (nearly F) grade with the BBB if you're such a great guy? Hahahahahahahaha:

EPIC FAIL #9 - Ninth: You make foolishly inaccurate assumptions.

EPIC FAIL #10 - Tenth: You look pretty bad, admitting having taken money from these poor kids and then harassing and badmouthing them after. Also having intentionally violated your (admitted) clients privacy by posting information like that on the net. You should be sued. I hope that they do sue you, for everything that you've got. #1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

This report was filed by a non-paying renter who was embarrased by the judge.

AUTHOR: JD - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 10, 2009

The following are just facts and a response to clarify the erroneous posting above.

This is another reason why you should not believe everything you see on the internet as it is very simple to post anything about anyone or any company, truth or lies.

I could respond with a lot of personal damaging information about both parties who are involved with the false posting, which is publicly available, but I know he is trying to start a business, and the guy desperately needs to make a living to pay his court ordered judgements, so I'll leave his business out of this.

The person who filed this report is named:

John S. Hastings, D.O.B. 3/29/1976 http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/docket/JusticeCourtCases
aka John Hastings, Jack Hastings, John Silas Hastings.
P.O. Box 120
Mesa, AZ 85211
(there is a good reason why he only has a P.O. Box, it is harder to get served court papers that way)

and his girlfriend:

Jill Hall, D.O.B 12/2/1973 http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/docket/JusticeCourtCases/

Both live in Mesa, AZ. They were former renters who decided not to pay, and then did not want to leave the residence. I tried to work something out with them, but John and Jill forced me to file a forcible detainer (eviction) through the court system,

http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/docket/JusticeCourtCases/caseInfo.asp?caseNumber=CC2009042547000

http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/docket/JusticeCourtCases/caseInfo.asp?caseNumber=CC2009104562000

because he attempted to get an injunction of harrassment against me even though I have no idea of what lies he told to the judge.

Here is a recent posting by John explaining what he did to get that injunction:

05-04-2009, 06:18 AM
... I tried to get an injunction on my landlord once. Commissioner wouldn't go for it. Had my co-tenant wear a low-cut dress and same commissioner granted her one under the same facts. It's BS, I say, but whatever... We got it all the same.

(He might take it down, but currently it is there. He'll figure out that it was pretty idiotic to post something like that on a public forum...LOL!!!)

John knows the process very well as he has been in and out of court constantly for the last 10 years. I had a feeling he was going to be trouble to rent to, but I went against my better judgement and gave the guy and his girlfriend a chance.

Just visit: http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/docket/JusticeCourtCases/
and you'll find more cases than I care to post.

And by the way, the links he posted about me above, please visit them also as they are old dismissed traffic tickets. Good try.

He did threaten me that if I continued to pursue through the courts to collect monies owed to me by him and his girlfriend, that he would seek revenge, and he is trying to do just that. But I'm still going to do the right thing and not let him threaten me with false posts. If you visit the links I have provided, you'll see that everything he has posted is absolutely false.

My Real Estate license is NOT suspended as John claims (nor do I have any other type of license that is suspended):

**************************************************************
John and Jill were never clients of riseabovedebt.com, so anything they say about the company is a personal attack on me, the landlord, not the company.

Actually, RiseAboveDebt.com was selected as one the leading Debt and Credit Companies in America for 2009 and featured in Feb Forbes Magazine.

http://www.prweb.com/releases/Credit_Debt_Relief/Professionals/prweb2195224.htm

RiseAboveDebt.com was also invited to be a guest on NBC Troubleshooters in 2008.

That should be enough credible evidence to prove the posting was false. I'm sure that John Hastings and/or Jill Hall will try and post more false information out of pure spite, but now you know you can dismiss their false postings.
