After having already closed my girlfriend's account and making us wait 180 days to claim our $1600.00 because we live together and obviously that justifies their claim of linked accounts.(Couples can't have PayPal.), I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau due to their gross mistreatment involving a dispute I filed on a seller who sent me a damaged good. After siding with me, eBay closed my case and then didn't return my funds. On the 11th of February, I received a response from PayPal's corporate office in regards to my complaint with the BBB. It was false and incomplete. 30 minutes later, I received 2 emails saying my account was limited until I provide needed info. Needed info? I'm a preferred member who has done business with them for years. They wanted to know what I was purchasing and from whom.I provided them the info and replied back to their corporate office demanding an explanation! I even threatened to sue for punitive damages. 15 minutes later, I received an email stating I was a risk and we must part ways, which we would do in a manner that would not be harmful to any business I was conducting. They stole my money, saying Id get it back after 180 days or I could refund it. So should I let them have 180 days of interest-free money that belongs to me? No! I refunded it and apologized to my buyers. I also removed PayPal from my website. But now, I'm stuck with buyers who can't receive their items because I can't pay suppliers who reside in China when all they accept is PayPal! Ebay forces you to list with only PayPal as a payment provider. They charge you to list a fee when you sell, a fee for the shipping costs, even to receive payment. They make sellers wait 21 days to receive their funds. And they can freeze your account and funds at any time without just cause. They are a monopoly of the worst kind and need to be regulated by our federal government. It's bad enough the BBB is in bed with them!

Monopoly?

How are they a monopoly? Nothing is stopping you from going in to buisness on your own website and purchasing your own credit/debit card acceptance software. In fact, I think there's a lot of people that sell things on the internet without using EBAY.

Now do they have a monopoly on their own website? Sure they do. If Ebay wants to allow only the one form of payment on their website, guess what? They can. Its their business. You can either do buisness with Ebay or setup your own website and payment methods for your products.

The problem is, as you admit, you were selling goods that you neither owned nor possessed.  Your get-rich-quick-scheme was to offer merchandise for sale, collect the payment, then order the merchandise.  

You rather studiously avoided stating what you offered to sell.  Fake I-Phones from China would be a good guess.  That would explain why eBay wanted to know who you were buying from and dropped you when identified the seller.

Your story about getting ripped off by someone else is just a smoke screen intended to direct attention away from you.

I have also imported goods directly from China in the past.  I did not need PayPal; I just did a wire transfer from my bank to the seller's bank in China.

I'm sorry, I wasn't selling Iphones. For any Paypal employees whom are trying avoid the truth.

, what I was selling was none of their business. It was on my own website. Which has nothing to do with my girlfriends account. It was closed for NO REASON what so ever. (Linked accounts) W/E

As for mine, Im a powerseller on ebay with over 500 feedback and stopped using ebay a while back because of their fees, Im also a Paypal Preferred member. Ya know why, I had over $10k in purchases. But when their custtomer service leaves me high and dry with damaged goods, and I file a consumer affairs report as well as a complaint with the BBB, it takes 3 weeks to hear back from them.

In an email filled with lies, and incomplete facts. So I set them straight, and guess what.

The next my account is limited.. So now every day I spread the truth about Paypal and Ebay, once a week I will spread the truth on their facebook accounts.

They freeze peoples accounts for 6 months so they can have 6 months with your cash, interest free.

All the while making up fake excuses with no proof or legitamate reason.

So if anyone would like to sign my petition, please do..

Its time we put them in their place!!

I do not work for paypal, but thanks for playing. That's what everyone says when they dont like the replies of people on this site.

My statement is true though, paypal is not a monopoly. You can use other websites and other payment methods for your services. Ebay is perfectly within their rights as a private buisness to only offer paypal as their online credit card service. A private buisness is under no obligation to take another credit card system.

As for why you are cutoff, I think that one's pretty simple. You threatened to sue them for damages. I know if I owned a buisness, and someone threatened me, I would stop conducting buisness with that person. As for the delay in releasing your funds, they have to do that in order to cover their asses in case of your customers needing refunds. Otherwise I could list a bunch of fake auctions, collect the money, cash out and close my account leaving ebay/paypal high and dry for liability. I'm sure these terms were all spelled out for you in the agreement you signed.

That is an admission that you advertised merchandise you did not have in stock. Did you have a great deal of complaints about taking an excessive time to fill orders? You bit the hand that was feeding you. You were blacklisted by PayPal for a reason.

I sold items that were on preorder, which is perfectly fine. I never had a single complaint about shipping times. All my auctions stated exactle when theyd arrive. And when I opened my own website, and stuck with paypal because I had used them for so long. I got screwed my their crappy service. And when I get robbed for money, you can bet one of two things will happen. I'll take it out of your skin, or Ill take it out of your wallet. Doesn't mean they can use false alligations which they can't prove to ditch me. Or hold funds for more than 21days. And they will be learning that harsh lesson very soon. But at least now I use a decent financial service, (one that is honest and professional), someone buys from me, it goes straight into my bank account. Not like paypal, who would have you walk in walmart, leave with a cart full of items, and tell walmart, Ill pay you in 21 days. I have to make sure I like the stuff. Ha,ha,ha,ha..

 Thats prepal, so go crawl back under your rock, you have nothing valid, relevant, or intelligent to say.

 I have several friends that have felt the sting of both Ebay and Paypal. And they are definately running a monoply. Ebay charges you to list and item, but don't forget, thats only if you use their sister site, Paypal. They then want a percentage of the sale including shipping charges. (Shipping!!) And then of coarse, you actually won't recieve any money for your sell, not for 21 days anyways. And then if the buyer opens a dispute, even without evidence, 80% of the time they side with the buyer and will Arse rape you. I've heard horror stories from dozens of people and have read hundreds of reports on BBB, Consumer Affairs, describing this company Paypal and the need for our Govn. to start monitoring their activities. I solute you for speaking out, and I believe you are correct, the leeches on here talking crap, probaly work for Prepal, lol.

I DO NOT work for eBay or PayPal. But I use their services to buy and sell goods. I honestly wish they would reply to reports here but they are probably a little busy babysitting thousands and thousands of buyers and sellers per hour that can not seem to properly conduct a simple online transaction without messing up... sad to say.

 Just go to your lunch with the rest of the vultures and quit stalking me, seriously, its illegal. Beside your stuttering, and I'm filing reports oln Paypal with Consumer Affairs, the BBB, the Attorney generals Office and Im taking part in a class action lawsuit. (You wish they would reply??) And say what, the same thing they always reply with!! Copy and pasted sections of their Policy  Sections....... "With no actual reason for their actions!"
 Other than blindly support them, and attack me, (for no reason), go ahead Hollywood, make one more statement, show everyone how stupid you are!
Show everyone that you work for Paypal.  Because if you open that mouth one more time without a legitamate reason, YOU ARE PROVING MY POINT!
 They are a Monopoly of the worst kind who pinpoint people stratigically so they may hold and use their money interest free for 6 months, (Theres no excuse, 21 days is long enough).
 They are not a bank, and should have no power in determining wether a transaction should be refunded, held or reversed. Only wether or not if a payment should be refunded due to an account being used by someone other than the account holder.

I checked out your Time To Wake Up eBay site. You should have consulted a high school graduate for assistance with your grammar and spelling errors.

You seem to be unaware that in the United States we enjoy a free enterprise economy in which a business can charge whatever they want for their goods and services based on supply and demand with a minimum of governmental intervention and regulation.

The price of their service is not a rip off because eBay sellers agree to the terms before their merchandise is listed. The service and payment system does not constitute a monopoly because anyone (excluding convicted felons) has the ability and the right to create their own online auction site.

 You proved my point... Very well in fact.. And thanks for trying to correct my grammer as you had nothing relavent to say. Except that anyone can take advantage of others, as Im sure you do for a living, since you work for Paypal. :)

 You probaly torture small animals and have a basement you use to keep small children you've kidnapped huh?. Not to mention your single, no friends, probaly have kids but they hate you. Same with your coworkers, but you handle it well as its no different from the abuse you suffered as a child.

 But know this, there is help for you!! You can move past your fathers sexual abuse and move on to be a productive member of society.

There is no monopoly

In order for there to be a monopoly, ebay would have to be the only online retailer offering their services. They are not. They have competition in the market.

As for them only accepting paypal, as a buisness they have the right to do that. I can open a buisness and only accept seashells for payment if I wish. That's my right as a buisness owner. I can also charge whatever ridiculous fees I want to charge, because no one is forced to use my buisness. No one is forcing you to use ebay or paypal. You agreed to their terms and conditions when you signed up for an account. If you don't like their hold times on funds, or their listing fees, etc, THEN DO NOT USE THEM. They CLEARLY spell out your fees in the terms and conditions of use. Paypal is not a bank, you have that one right. Since they are not a bank, they are not regulated like banks are. They have their own rules for their transactions which you agreed to.

Let us know what the attorney general has to say. I'd also love to see your class action lawsuit when it goes to court, don't forget to update this post with your court docket number when you sue them!

You're clearly insane if you think anyone here works for paypal. Just spend 15 minutes browsing some reports here and you will see the same people responding all over the place.

If someone has a legit grievance, and some moron whom has nothing intelligent to add to fix the situation keeps harassing them. I believe that is called A- Stalking/ Harassment by internet and B- A really foolish move because everyone see's it for what it is and will just think that the person has no interest in the problem or the suffering of the individual (in this case thousands of individuals), nor any interest in helping to resolve the problem.
You obviously work for paypal and we can all see it.
Continuing this any further just adds to the supporting evidence, and makes you look even more like an annoying arse.

 I'm a mother of four, I work full time for the casino's, and i made extra income doing crafts on ebay. One day i get an email saying that they want to end our relationship in the best manner possible as to not harm my business. I asked repeatedly why and got no reply, just that i can withdraw my funds after 180 days have past.
 I'm really annoyed by the person harassing the issuer of this complaint.
You either have no life, or you must work for paypal.
I'm signing both of the petitions. Ebay and Paypal both should be shut down in my eyes, they are crooks.
 David, don't stoop to his level, your better than that. We see what he's been doing, and nobody cares a lick about anything this fool says.

I could see the OPs points regarding Ebay and Paypal, but his rude, asinine responses to those disagreeing with him, and accusing everyone of working for Paypal, ruin his arguments and render him ridiculous.

All's fair in love, war and business, and while certainly within their rights to conduct business as they do, both Ebay and Paypal clearly have issues in the way they handle seller-buyer disputes, since RoR has plenty of posts from both sides with similar complaints.

But, Amazon, and I can assume all similar selling venues are doing the same thing as far as holding sales revenue to ensure being able to credit back customers who report problems with purchases.

But, like it or not, free enterprise or not, both companies, while not technically or legally monopolies, at least not as of now, do dominate their niche markets to such an extent, that they ought to either restrain themselves, or face being restrained to some point in their ability to cut users off. If Ebay/Paypal does not bend somewhat on this point, sooner or later they'll likely face legislation or FTC intrusion to force the issue.

And yes, someone operating their own site outside of Ebay does have other payment options, but many people won't shop on a site without the Paypal option. And that is the reality that in my opinion requires Ebay to carefully control its penchant for dropping accounts. At the very least, they probably need to open up the dispute process more and provide better due process for appeals.

Yep, it happens sometimes. A mistake or a glitch on the website.  Now stop trying to rip people off and blame Paypal and Ebay. They are just a venue to buy and sell stuff online and are certainly not the only ones....just the most successful despite a few morons who can't conduct a simple transaction without drama and nonsense.
