Did you read the receipt

AUTHOR: Alisa - Salt Lake City (U.S.A.)

There may have been tax involved? Have you contacted the store? You might want to try contacting them before filing it here.

If you find a mistake...

AUTHOR: Wagmgr - Beaverton (U.S.A.)

If you feel that you were short-changed by a cashier, a manager can count the register to see if it is over by the amount that you feel you were shorted; if it is near closing time, then you will likely need to wait until there are no customers in line.  Some managers may feel threatened if you are yelling, so please remain polite and just explain the situation to the manager on duty.

It may take a few minutes for the report to print out and for the manager to review your transaction, please be patient.  We haven't forgotten about you, we just need to follow procedures to ensure no further mistakes are made.

I stress how important it is that you return the same day.  While it is not impossible to still claim monies a day or two later, it becomes increasingly difficult to prove your case as time elapses.

You should talk to a manager

AUTHOR: Dave - Westland (USA)

I had this happen to me as a cashier, with a customer that said I didn't give her the change she was owed. Ask a manager to do a cash count immediately. As it turns out, I did not short the customer the money that they claimed that I did, but If I had, they would have been given the money in a matter of minutes.

They are supposed to do that whenever a customer or a cashier requests it. They may ask you to step away from the register for a few minutes for the manager to count it. This is standard operating procedure to not have anybody but employees in the vicinity of the register. If there was any shortage at all, the manager will usually give you your money back right on the spot. It usually takes about 10 minutes at the most.
