I purchased Kincaid's Gathering house Dining room table and six chairs along with the china deck 3 years ago from Kincaid Home furnishings in Montgomeryville, PA.

After having the table and chairs only 2 weeks, one of the chairs broke underneath one of my guests during dinner. I contacted the store and spoke with John who said he would order me a new chair and give me a floor model until my new one came in. 5 weeks later, I called the store wondering when my chair would come and John told me that they already gave me my chair. When I told them I didn't pay full price for a floor sample he become belligerent with me on the phone. I became concerned I was being ripped off and asked to speak to the manager to get my money back.

The store manager told me all sales were final so I asked to speak to the store owner and he said he wouldn't give me his name. Furious, I contacted headquarters via letter to the president, Gerald Kiser who got the Director of Management and Quality, Reggie Propst involved. He assured me there were manufacturing errors in the line that have been corrected and he would send me all new chairs. I agreed but when the chairs were delivered I had my doubts they were new. Wrapped in blankets, not plastic, and covered in dust, they were dropped off in my living room. I reluctantly began to use them but about every 4 months one of them breaks (the rungs pull out of the bottom) and the store send a serviceman over to glue them back together.

Also I cannot open one of my drawers in the china deck and they were unsuccessful in fixing that problem as well. Bottom line... don't believe everything they tell you in the showroom. Kincaid furniture is poor quality, not the strongly constructed, solid wood furniture they boast about. They are glued together cheaply and the screws in the chairs are only for show and do nothing to reinforce the stability. Not to mention the Montgomeryville, PA store gave me nothing but problems for the initial 3 months of trying to rectify the fact I was RIPPED OFF!

I have heard similar customer service problems with this store imparticular as well as similar issues with the quality of manufacturing. In the last year they seem to have new store manager and the customer service has impoved but I am still disappointed in the qulity of this set. STAY AWAY!!!!!
