My wife and I wanted to buy 1 of 3 sets of den furniture. The sales rep. Mr. Kaplan, at first seemed very nice. We discussed the price on all 3 sets. I told him I had a number in my head, and if he were to come close to it, I will buy a set. He insisted that he know the number first, I told him that if I told him the nimber first, then I wont budge from it, he was OK with that. told him my number, he went to the manager, and came back 35 dollars higher than my number. I reminded him that I will not budge, and if he did'nt insist on knowing my number first, I would have purchased a set. He went back to his manager, then came back to us, in front of my wife, Mr. Kaplan cursed me out. He is an older man, so I just decided to shake his hand and told him to have a nice day. It was my choice to leave on those terms, however I did not appreciate being cursed out, especially in front of my wife, and the outcome could have been very different, had he been 20 years younger.

Bottom line, we went across the street and purchased a leather sectional from (((competitor's name redacted)))

sorry, …allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. It sounds to me as if you are making this up. You had me feeling you did the right thing until you mentioned "if he had been 20 yrs younger". Why not tell us the truth that you are prejudice against older people and you had no intention of giving him any business?

His age had pleanty to do with it, although he cursed me in front of my wife, I refrained from letting myself get drawn into an argument, and I still shook his hand and gave him the respect he deserved as an elderly man. I dont hate the guy, I just dont agree with his ways of doing business, otherwise he would have sold a lether sectional that moment.
