Rhodes Furniture And HRS Major Deceptive Practices Regarding 18 month same as cash deals, furniture is poorly constructed and completely out of shape Greensboro North Carolina

We purchased furniture about 4 years ago from Rhodes Furniture in Greensboro, NC. Upon arrival the furniture looked fine. Although we did have some difficulties with delivery and setup, the furniture arrived with no further incident. The furniture was purchased through a 18 month no payments, no interest plan. HRS began billing us for the furniture earlier than anticipated three times. They fixed the problem twice, with the help of a Rhodes associate. We had done business with her to furnish almost every room in our house. The third time HRS billed us early, the problem was not fixed and we began being billed for late charges. Shortly thereafter, they increased our interest rate on the financing to some ridiculous number - I never realized they could actually be allowed to do something like this. Where is the consumer protection? Noone at Rhodes, including the manager, and not one person at HRS would help us fix the problem. The bills started coming in with the interest payment being higher than the minimum payments! We were appalled and tried to speak to them regarding this problem. We finally gave up and started paying them regardless of late fees, finance fees, etc. The worst part of this whole thing is that although, at the time, we had only had the furniture for less than a year, we noticed that the springs were already breaking on couch. We purchased an entire set including couch, two chairs, coffee table, side tables and lamps. The chairs and the couches look terrible now. The furniture should have cost us about $4,000 but with the interest and late fees they charged us the cost of the furniture is now about $7,000. We have been paying it for over 2 years now and it's still about $7,000. This furniture is poorly constructed and completely out of shape and we still have to pay for it when we really need to throw it away. It's an absolute disgrace. There should be some kind of class action suit against Rhodes and HRS for their deceptive practices, lack of concern for their customers, and selling inferior products that are outlived by their pricing.
