My son & I purchased a piece of furniture under my name and credit in I believe May of 2005. We were told by the sales clerk there was a promotion, there would be no charges, finance etc. for 12 months. So we are thinking we have until at least April of 2006 to pay it off. I made a payment of $100.00 which brought the balance down to $1,384.09. I never recieved a statement acknowledging payment. I think I received maybe three statements the first months after purchase. I did move in July and believe I did notify them of the address change as I make it a point to do so immeadiatly at the P.O. and all my creditors etc. I have received all my other mail regardless of where it was sent. They are telling me they sent staements, which I do not believe. March 12, 2006 I called the i-800-825-5153 as I wanted a statement. I was told my balance as of Jan was $17778.37. He rattled off the extra charges faster than I could write them. I requested to talk to a dispute clerk, She said she would take off 25% if I payed right then with my Checking account only. I told her I do not carry that amount in my checking account and would have to use my Visa. She said she could not accept Visa. WHY? ( maybe because credit card company's will go to bat for you when need be) A check I probably would have no recoarse. You need to know this company went bankrupt a few months ago. I wonder why!! I am about to send them a check for the amount that we contracted for minus the $100.00 payment and that will be my final contact.
