Ice Sculpture Fell And Broke Man's Arm

We just wanted to alert people to the DANGER at the Icium.fi Ice
sculptures in Levi Finland. The sculptures are dangerous, and the ice is
only connected together with water.

Whilst we were in Levi Finland, one of the ice sculptures fell on
somebody breaking their skull. Some of the sculptures are pretty high
and can fall on you from a great height, and this happened when we were
there, and there were ambulances and everything.

Please do not put your life in danger at the Icium, Levi Finland.

Chinese Gangster Market

There is also a little market/shop there run by Chinese gangsters, who
stole money from us. We were paying for a small neck scarf when one of
the Chinese sellers refused to give us change out of a 200 euro note.
The scalf over cost 25 Euros and they refused to give us change, and
stole 175 Euros from us. They are Chinese gangsters, and we had to
report it to the Finland Police.

Please, if you value your safety, and do not want the Chinese gangsters
stealing from you, do NOT VISIT THE ICIUM in Finland!!!!!

Levi Icium

AUTHOR: DiscoveringFinland - Helsinki (Finland)

I was quite surprised to read the report on Icium at the Levi Ski Resort which included the statement "one of the ice sculptures fell on somebody breaking their skull." The report had been filed at the end of January of last year, which would suggest that this incident had happened that winter.

I've been living in Finland for almost two years, and during that time I have heard of no such incident being reported. This is not a country where too much happens in winter, and if such an accident had happened I would expect it to be reported. Intrigued, I searched the databases of the newspapers for the region, and found nothing. I searched the national news media, and found nothing. Eventually I contacted a reporter from the region and described the allegations that I had read on this site. He said it was unlikely, but he would check. Two days later the reporter got back to me: there had been no ambulance called to Icium to treat anyone injured by a falling ice sculpture. Additionally, there had been no Police called to investigate any claim by any tourist that a vendor had tried to rob them.

This latter piece of news came as no surprise to me. Finland has very strict regulations when it comes to selling goods to the public, and if a vendor in one of the country's best known tourist spots were even accused of such conduct they would lose their license instantly.

This leads me to believe that the person who wrote this report has been less than truthful. No sculpture in Icium fell on anyone 'breaking their skull', no ambulance dealt with any such injury, and the Police have no record of ever having to deal with any person who had a complaint against a vendor who was alleged to have tried to short change them.
