A technician with Precision Door came to my house to troubleshoot problems I was having with my garage door. I saw an ad in the newspaper $39.95 service call. My garage door was only making a slight noise when the door when all the way up and the opener light would blink on and off constantly. Nothing major, or so I thought.

I explained to the technician what was going on and he completely blew me off. He immediately stated that I needed new springs. My house was built in 2003, so the springs weren't even 3 years old. He did something to the door and said when you push down on the door its not supposed to move and if it does move that's a sign that the springs are bad. Well he performed this "test" and of course the door moved about 1/2 inch. He then went on to say that if the springs weren't replaced the garage door would not work and it could even fall at any given time, i.e. walking under the door or when I'm backing out. Of course I agreed to have this work done after this "scare" tactic. The price: $376.00.

After the springs were replaced (I really don't think the springs were even replaced, but I can't prove this), I had to remind the technician about the light blinking on and off. I casually mentioned my garage door problem to some coworkers the very next day and they say that was way too much and that springs should last longer than 2 years. I stopped payment on the check the next day after calling several other garage door companies.

I notified SW at Precision Door (phone call and a letter) and told her why I was stopping payment. I also told her that my garage door is now making even louder, grinding noises than before. An appointment (June 6) was set up for the manager to come out but he never showed up. I sent another 2 page letter to SW informing her of the "no-show" of the manager.

On June 3, 2006, I reported Precision to the AR Attorney General's office, The Better Business Bureau and The Federal Trade Commission. Precision Door did not respond to any of the complaints until August 10. Meanwhile, I had another garage door company come out to fix the mess Precision Door left.

The latest rebuttal from SW of Precision Door is that I never informed her of any problems until days after I stopped payment on the check (I have a letter dated June 2); the manager came to my house but I didn't come to the door (I have a message on my answering machine of SW apologizing that the manager didn't show up and the reason he didn't show up); and that Precision door didn't get any of the complaint letters because they moved the 1st of June. Oh, then she slipped and said she received the complaint from the Attorney General's office but did not respond to that until August 10th. My question is if the company moved the 1st of June how did she get the Attorney General's letter. I didn't file the complaint until June 3 which was a Saturday.

Now, SW is giving me until the 15th of September to pay, but Precision Door will have to take me to court or negotiate the price for this "shoddy" work.

Everyone: BEWARE of this "Company"!!!!!!!!

Owner is lead tech

AUTHOR: J. Smith - West Des Moines (U.S.A.)

The owner of the Little Rock franchise is also the lead tech. K W is often late to customers homes and cancels things without telling them. If you call to complain they say they will tell the owner when it is really the owner doing it to you!!! It is left to the office to fix these problems while he is doing whatever instead of his job!!!

#2 Owner of Company

Owner is lead tech

AUTHOR: Kwalton - North Little Rock (U.S.A.)

I am the owner of Precision Door of Little Rock and I am indeed a technician. I have been trained and certified for 11 years in garage door repairs. Our company philosophy is to provide quality service and products to our customers, and I uphold that promise daily in my customers garages. We are a service business that covers all of Central Arkansas and Hot Springs; we book in 2 hour time periods to allow for any delays. It is not unheard of that a technician may need to spend more time on a certain job making sure it is operating properly, in the event he is running late or I am running late, the customer is always notified. These things can not be avoided from any company. I do have technicians who have to do repairs for me, thats why they were hired. Unfortunately, I have had to let a few technicians go, for various reason. I do believe this is an act of frustration from a disgruntled employee. Lastly, I take pride in my job and my business, and when i'm in your garage I will have no problem letting you know I own this fine establishment!

Paula is right

AUTHOR: Precision Overhead Door Sucks - Framingham (USA)

If Precision Door in Arkansas is anything like the outfits in Massachusetts, then you are a scam artist and should be barred from doing business in the state of Arkansas.  I am curious to know what your business model is Sir.  Duping and overcharging people that need repairs done to get cars out of their garages?  Word of mouth is a powerful thing, when you do good work, people will tell 5 friends/acquantances.  When a provider does shoddy work or overcharges, they will tell 100+ people.  Eventually, you will get what you deserve, a business out of business for lack of paying customers.
