Put $40 in cash into the ATM and pumped gas into the car, which was a few feet away.

Checked the pump to see how much gas was pumped and what it cost

Went into the store to collect change and the receipt.

The older clerk on the South Register gave me a receipt and change that did not match my purchase

Told him there was a mistake and explained that:

1. I had put $40 in the ATM before pumping your gas, the receipt showed only $30.

2. I had pumped a different amount of gas than was shown on the receipt

3. The receipt indicated I had purchased store merchandise, and I
had no merchandise

The clerk told me was nothing he could do, I was stuck with that receipt and that change.

When I argued with him he consulted the younger Clerk, who gave me a number to call if I wanted to complain, (800) 272-6349.

When I pointed out the fact that he knew the receipt was wrong because he knew I hadnt bought any merchandise; he told me to leave.

Original older clerks name is unknown.

The younger clerk who told him what to do and told me to leave once it was obvious to everyone in the store that I had been cheated, was Mr. Noorkhan

While in the station we called a number provided by Mr. Noorkhan, (800) 272-6349, and a nice lady tried to help us out. I told her what happened and she attempted to get Mr. Noorkhan to look at the register history to see if there was a receipt matching our description in the register but Mr. Noorkhan attempted to throw all of us off by searching the wrong register, and when we pointed that out.

I will also note that the number the clerk gave me seems to be one that ARCO normally reserves for very important issues, and it got me to important people much more quickly than I expected. However the people who I spoke to though that number were all shocked that I, (a customer), knew about that number and called it. I suggest everyone with a real problem call them though that number, ((800) 272-6349), because it is a fast way to get to important people at ARCO.

By now the older clerk had left the premises and the younger clerk started saying he couldnt do anything because he had not been the clerk who serviced me.

The ARCO rep I spoke with at (800) 272-6349, was very nice and promised me a call back by the end of the weekend, but that has not happened, thus this report.

By now I strongly suspect Arco knows that some of their stations shortchange customers, and blow them off as a routine way to pocket more money, but just doesnt care. If that wasnt true they would have called me back.
