My husband and I put up $50,000 to start a business, but could not get financing we were satisfied with and then after several shady phone calls and events that we wanted out and requested our money back! After hiring an attorney we got $16,000 back, but signed an agreement with Beggs & Lane, a law firm in Pensacola, FL, to lose $10,000 and be added to a settlement pool to receive quarterly payments for the remaining $24,000. We received approximately 4 payments which were small and dwindled each time because they kept adding people to the pool. Beggs & Lane sent us a letter on 9/11/08 informing us they no longer represented Java Joz/Cuppy's and gave us the phone numbers they had - (888) 241-4324 and (256) 389-3470, but you can never get through on any of the numbers. I called the latter number and you can choose different extensions such as 3457 or 3458 to get different employees and once I got someone and they sounded surprised that I had gotten through! I was super sweet and asked for the legal department and he supposedly forwarded me, but I conveniently got cut off! Beggs & Lane, due to a conflict of interest, would not give me or would not give my name and number to any of the other individuals on the pool list, so here we are with no one to contact and out $35,000 of retirement! I've never seen anyone who is so smooth at ripping people off! We had an older couple who "mentored" us like grandparents, what were those people paid to lie to us? I spent a day at an actual store with an owner and I feel so sorry for those people that have to continue on with a corporation with this type of reputation!

If anyone has any more information, or has a plan, or is planning a law suit against these people, please let us know! We are at a dead end and don't know where to go! Someone needs to stop these thieves from hurting anymore innocent people! They've moved shop to avoid being prosecuted in Florida and now they're starting all over in Alabama! WATCH OUT ALABAMA!
