Anyone moving to Bay County, Florida must be informed of the dangers of building or remodeling a home. My family relocated to Panama City and didn't know the reputation of the local builders. Since then we have lost our life savings in legal fees to fight a construction scam and will never be able to build or move again.
We fell into a scam so quickly that we didn't even realize what was happening until it was too late. We are careful consumers and didn't believe that this could happen to us, but it did!
We hired a Panama City contractor that was highly praised by Bay County Builder Services. Soon after we hired him the demands for pay advances began and later when we would refuse he would throw violent rages to try and force pay advances. There were countless other problems with him as well.
Builder Services was contacted for help and they refused any assistance and continued to praise the builder.
Their prize builder is no prize. Once he received his final payment he refused to complete the home and filed a false lien and lawsuit trying to bully our family into a "pay off".
Countless times we contacted Bay Builder Services and they said they were only interested in code violations. They don't concern themselves with ethics violations. They refuse to disclose the complaints that we filed to the public. If you were to call them they would tell you that no complaints have ever been filed against this prize builder.
If you move to Bay County and you want the truth about a builder, do not call the builder services as they only protect the builders. On the other hand the Bay Count Courthouse is a wealth of information and they are more than happy to share it with you.
I sure wish that I had known about their web site before I hired an Ex-con. (((Redacted)))
Contractor's Licenses are given in Bay County, Florida regardless of criminal history and they are not taken away no matter how much the contractor abuses their professional license for personal gain.
Construction Fraud.....Contractor Scams......Setting a trap.....Using undue influence on the clients..... Fabricated terms..... liens and lawsuits! These crimes are all against Florida State Laws. However, they are exempt from any penalties or enforcement in Bay County Florida!
If you are considering building or remodeling in Bay County Florida....Think Again!
