Empire Beauty Schools Destroyed My Hair and Refused To Repair The Damage They Did St. Paul Minnesota

I asked them to return my blonde hair to its original ash blonde color. I had about a half inch of new growth so they could get the color right. I told them, at least ten times, that I did NOT want ANY red tones whatsoever.
The instructor (first of three) directed the student to bleach the roots to match the ends of my hair. She left it on too long and the roots were a lighter color than the ends. I had a stripe about two inches from my scalp.
Instructor 2 then tells the student to use a new color line (Goldwell) which I later discovered runs very dark. Student uses a bottle to apply the color and says she will leave it on for twenty minutes. I timed it and it was on my hair for thirty-five minutes. After it was dry the stripe near my scalp was close to the right color but the ends of my hair were about three shades darker.
Instructor 2 then decides to use a "clarifier" on my hair. The clarifier was actually bleach and turned my hair two hideous shades of red. They sent me home that way. Instructor 3 had a funny look on her face when I left.
I called them when they opened the next morning and told them the color was totally unacceptable. They sent me to their Blaine store where they were supposed to fix the color. They used foils to bleach my hair when I thought the foils were to put the ash blonde in to try to get rid of the RED.
My hair is so damaged that three salons I consulted would not even touch my hair. I cried all the way home and I AM NOT a crier.

Hi,
I have gone to Empire many times and had great results! I have had problems every now and then, overall I have been very happy. You have to keep in mind that this is a school! I got a cut, color and highlights last time for $25, and it was amazing! Everyone loved my hair and honestly, I have only had my hair cut this well two other times in my life by a stylist in Germany and a stylist in Florida. Mistakes like this will help you learn what to tell stylists to do.Theroretically, the instructor was trying to make sure your hair all looked one tone by matching your roots to the ends. But what she should have done was had the student use the ash blonde and just leave it on the ends longer than the roots. They tried to use the clarifier to remove some of the dark color before it set in...clarifiers are not bleach though. It makes no sense that your hair would turn red if they used an "ash" tone or even a neutral tone, so that is very odd and there is noway for the instructor to know that would happen. It sounds like they did the right steps AFTER the original lightening to try to fix it, but sometimes hair just acts unpredictable and does weird things. For example, I always have to have my hair toned after it is highlighted, otherwise it is too brassy (has too much red).

You take a real chance going to a school for something as complex as color. I am a pro in the biz for 30 years and I can say it took me five years AFTER GRADUATING from beauty school before I felt comfortable enough with color to not have to consult a senior stylist every time I had a color to do.
Color is more in the application than the actual color. Oh, sure, color needs to be right, but that can be done easily with help from teacher/senior stylist. The real work is in applying it fast enough so it will be even all over. For a student, this is very, very had to do. It take time to build your speed, and in school, you simply don't have it yet.
If it takes you half an hour to do one side of head, then by the time other side is done, the first side has processed already quite a bit. So it is inevitable that the color will be uneven.
Your best bet if you have to go to a school is to ask for the student who is next in line to graduate. But really, color isn't something to take that kind of a chance on.
And Goldwell doesn't run "very dark". That's stupid. Color is color and it's all pretty much the same. I have worked with every line of pro color there is and it's all the same. Some are a bit richer looking than others and some last a little longer than others, but the color and levels of lightness/darkness are the same.
