The drink prices at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theatre are so ridiculously over-inflated that it's criminal. I'm not talking about expensive, because I'm fully aware of drink prices at places like South Beach, NYC, etc., these days. I'm talking about $113 for the six drinks for the party in front of us in line, $74 for the party of four next to us in line, and $47 for the two of our drinks.

There was no other place on South Beach that we went to whose drink prices came close to this, so they can't use location as their excuse. They know you are there for a one-time concert, and you'll pay the price as you have no other options if you want a drink at the show. It's a total gouge job scam. The artists who perform there should rebel as no one had any money left to spend on concert t-shirts, etc. after having been robbed by The Fillmore.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Law of Supply and Demand

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

First you were not FORCED to buy a drink at the theater you WANTED a drink. So your desire to have a drink was outweighed by your dislike of the price.

Last time I checked a drink was a pleasure item and not like a neccesity of life so they can charge as much as they feel the market will bare. If people stop buying the product because it is too expensive they will have to lower the cost. If as you say artists notice that they have less sales they may say something, but I have a feeling that their sales did not hurt in the least.

If you think the theater is gouging you then perhaps next time before you go to any theater, you may want to hit a bar or club BEFORE you go to the show. Most shows/concerts are only around a couple of hours long and hopefully you can wait that long before another drink.
