Pierce's Lawn & Garden Products Incompetent mechanics destroyed the transaxel when all they were to do was reinsert the gear shift lever mistreated and ripped off Mt. Zion Illinois

The gear shift lever popped out of the transmission on my riding lawnmower. I took it to them to reinsert the shift lever. They kept it all winter. They called me and told me that they had disassembled it and it was showing wear, and needed $800 worth of repairs. I had only taken it in to have the shift lever put back. I found out from another repair station that there is a set screw that holds the shift lever in the housing, and if you simply stick the lever back in, and tighten the set screw (this is under the tractor, not visable)it would have been fixed.

When I went to see what they were talking about I discovered that they not only had taken the whole transaxel apart, they had cut the wheel hubs off, not removed the set screws and pulled them, and they had pulled the axel shafts out of the gear box by force, instead of opening the top of the gear box and releasing the snap rings that hold the axel shafts in place.
At other times,I had tried to order parts through them, but the correct parts never seemed to arrive.

I fiound another place in a town about 50 miles away who repaired the damage these idiots did, but it cost me $200, on a lawn mower I only had $500 in. True, it was an old one, but it was just grand. I sold it. I have a John Deere. I liked the old Wheel Horse a lot more, but I won't have anything made by Wheelhorse or Toto, because Pierce is the authorized sales agent here.
