I enrolled into the medical assist program. And after the 1st month I was almost scared to go, I am still very cautious about being alone anywere around the school. And it is not from the ex-con's that are enrolled there but from bullies that you would never suspect but Lord help you if you do something they don't like.

And as for the people who work there they are so scattered and when you ask any questions in the office from the girl at the front to the president on the 6th floor all I get is "I don't know" or well (whatever the problems is) it's all your fault because you didn't ask the question in the right way.

Now I am fighting about my student loans,I was told that I would receive a check at the end of Sept. I had to take the month of Aug off and return in Sept I called my program director and ask "Will this affect my financial aid"? She said "I don't know" call financial aid so I call them asking the same question and she tells me "OH No everything will be fine".

So come the end of Sept I am expecting a check and I see on my information that the date has changed to the end of Oct? So I go in and question it and I am told because I took a month off the date was moved, I even went to the "Head of the dept" and ask Why was I not told this? She informed me it was my fault because I didn't ask the right question and there was nothing she could do. I had to take out a personal loan to get thru to the end of Oct and now they have MOVED the date again to Nov?

What the heck is going on? SO I go back to the aid dept and I am  now told "well you have to have so many credit hours in order to receive your money..I am upset and ask when did this become a factor? Because if I had not taken off in AUG then I would have received my check in Sept and not  had the hours they NOW say I must have.Is there anyway I get my money? NOW!!!! I have been unable to find work and could REALLY use MY MONEY!!! I would NOT reccomend This school to ANYONE!

Doesn't seem right

AUTHOR: 2 - Fredonia (USA)

If we're talking about Federal financial aid (Pell Grant, SEOG, Stafford loans, etc...) a school must set a disbursement date (usually a few weeks after add-drop ends) and are required to publish it and stick to it. They cannot deny disbursement based on not having enough credit hours alone, unless you withdrew or failed enough courses that you aren't considered to be making satisfactory progress, and that couldn't happen your first term - you would need to fail multiple classes. Taking short term medical leave doesn't give them the right to arbitrarily change your disbursement date.

This just doesn't seem right, I'd get in touch with the Federal Ombudsman's (should be a link on the Department of Ed website).
