    Corporate Advocacy Program

This company in short has taken my money that I paid up front for and never received it back after I requested a refund multiple times.  They kept putting it off until the refund policy ran out, they used that against me and told me it was too late.  I only used their services for Module 1, I was supposed to graduate once I completed Module 4.  However, while Module 1 was going on I could not help it but notice the lack of this company being able to retain their employees.  I started off with a male teacher, all the sudden he left the company and we had another teacher, all they said about him leaving is he was "no longer with TRS", everything about why he left was top secret and was never disclosed to any of the students.  The next teacher was ok, but once again was replaced by someone else.  In the short time I was with them I had a total of 3 teachers and this was for one Module only!

Once I started actively demanding my refund, and decided to NO longer play the nice, quiet and patient client, I was told that the last teacher I had actually discussed my wish to receive my refund to was no longer there.  That told me if I would have continued I would have had at the very least 4 different teachers!  This alone shows you this company is not organized at all, when you have that much movement or turnover of teachers/employees the only ones that end up suffering in this situations is the students.

I have been actively going back and forth with them demanding my refund, and have also explained why after a little over 2 years now I still deserve my refund, and will not give up.  I went on to tell them their services would be of no use to me since I have taken a completely new route in life that does not involve medical transcription, as well as I had no choice since I had an unfortunate accident involving my hand (completely documented) that has permanently kept me from trying to pursue any career that requires frequent use of a keyboard.  I even sent them pictures of my injury.  Also I am a Military spouse and described to them when I completed my last move I had no internet access for a long time.

They refuse to see their faults in this, I was completely honest with everything and even sent them emails of the times my latest teacher and I discussed my circumstances,  however, once again, they used those emails against me and said the fact I was speaking to my teacher past the 1 year refund policy mark means I was pursuing this career and therefore do not deserve a refund.  I could have very well lied about everything and demanded my refund with nothing but lies and not sending any emails I had kept, however, I will not go to that low level.

I recently received a call from one of their reps, and of course TRS takes no fault in anything, never mind their teaching was completely inconsistent, not organized, and extremely confusing due to their lack of being able to retain employees, they wanted to offer me a deal, to say the least all I want is my refund, nothing more and nothing less.  I know I am not due all of it since I did use their services for one module, but I believe it is fair to get back what is rightfully mine.

I have not and will not unjustly defame any one or any company, this is simply a review of my factual experiences with TRS.

Everyone using TRS services or contemplating it please keep in mind lack of being able to retain employees is alone a HUGE REG FLAG!

I will be more than happy to update this review if and when I receive any news back from TRS.

Contact with the Better Business Bureau about TRS

AUTHOR: MilitaryWife09 - Dallas (USA)

Also please be advised, TRS Institute are members of the Better Business Bureau, you should also know that they are paying customers, meaning a business that pays to have a membership, and when you pay into the BBB you ALWAYS have a clean report!  So DO NOT feel safe doing business with TRS just because their report is squeaky clean with the Better Business Bureau, remember TRS pays the BBB to make sure they have their report completely clean.  Rip Off Report talks all about the BBB's true intentions and profit making all over this site.

I wrote the BBB of North Carolina, the same BBB Department that overseas TRS Institute's account and this is what I received back:

"Better Business Bureau of Central North Carolina

3608 West Friendly Avenue

Greensboro, NC 27410

Tel: 336-852-4240     Fax: 336-852-7540

RE: Case # 33012775: TRS Institute, LLC

Thank You for the information you provided regarding the above-mentioned company.  Your correspondence was received by the BBB on July 22, 2009 and has been assigned case# 33012775 in our files.

We appreciate your bringing this to our attention.  Information from the public is always valuable to us.

Although the Better Business Bureau does not process or report on this type of complaint, we have forwarded it to the company as a courtesy and this will become a part of the BBB's file on the business.

Sincerely,

Doreen U. Hodge

Arbitration Administrator

BBB Complaint Department"

As I said because TRS is their paying customer they will not file a report.  They were supposed to at least offer arbitration (meaning be the middle person and try to have us come to an agreement) however, no arbitration was offered, instead the BBB plans to hide this from the public and not tarnish TRS Institute's report.  Very unfair to me and the reason I have been forced to come out and tell the world about this.

Last but certainly not least, I am a Military Wife.  My husband worked very hard risking his life to get me this education.  The reason for my original particular interest in TRS Institute versus other transcription schools was due to their "catering to military families".  I was led to believe they really cared and wanted us military people to receive a good career.  They offer Military Soldiers as well as Military Spouses a discount for their affiliation with the Military.  From past experiences, I thought all companies or businesses that offered Military discounts were worth dealing with since they valued us enough to give us discounts, boy was I wrong.  Please all my Military people be advised this company is not reputable, they will use their Military discount as a bait to luere you in, the teachers are in one day and gone the next, the company was obviously so bad that it ended up being sold, no one in their right mind sells a company that is doing good and making good profits, and of course they will graduate you and leave you like an orphan come time to start looking for medical transcription jobs.

TRS reviews from other people

AUTHOR: MilitaryWife09 - Dallas (USA)

At MTStars, a website about Medical Transcription, there is many opinions about TRS, I have placed them below.

 One student states:

"A bad investment

They don't help you or answer emails, they don't let you take time off if you have to, and they don't help you get a job when you are done--they hand you a piece of paper with company names on it who don't hire grads. Waste of money."

Yet another student, Jeni, confirms what I had to say about TRS lack of competent teachers:

"Dont go with TRS

went there and they constantly change teachers (I had 5!) and promised me a job when I was done and then didnt deliver. They never answer questions and it is just not worth it."

Jeni also went on to add:

"TRSI doesn't give you books or materials to show what you paid for or to use in your studies, not like the other schools do. My friend got a huge box of materials from MTEC, I got barely 3.  When I graduated, I heard they were going to use an online resource program but you have to pay for it to keep it as soon as you leave so what good is it to pay for something when you should have gotten it when you signed up and you don't even have a job yet. Jeni"

Someone else trying to get a job with them, had this to say:

"You might talk to someone at TRS and inquire about...

the possibility of hiring on with them upon graduation.  I am a newbie, and still haven't found a place to call home yet, but I do know that TRS also actually does medical transcription as well as having the TRS Institute.  It is called Transcription Relief Services, I believe.  I have spoken with people there in the past, and they were very nice; however, I have applied there since completing a program at a technical college and they, unfortunately, did not afford me the courtesy of a response or even acknowledgement that they received my resume."

The following is a factual, impactful, strong statement if only I would have read this I would have NEVER given them my money, this is from a student that graduated, Karen:

"company was sold so they have no company to hire you after graduation!

They are not a reputable school and I went there so I should know. Even when they did have Trans. Relief Services they never answered my email about employment upon graduation."

Dissatisfied Contact with TRS Institute

AUTHOR: MilitaryWife09 - Dallas (USA)

On 9-17-2009 I received this email from Mr. Reilly:

"Dear Ms. Ross,

In follow up to our telephone call I wanted to document the main points of our discussion. These were:

1)      The TRS Institute stands by its decision that you are not due a refund.

2)      We are not happy with the slanderous threats you have made towards our company.

3)      We would like to bring this issue to closure by offering you the following two options:

a.       We agree to go to binding arbitration where each of us is provided the opportunity to present our case to an impartial judge and agree to legally abide by the decision of the arbitrator; or

b.      You agree to accept our offer of $750 with a commitment in writing that this closes the issue, relinquishes us from any future litigation, and agree not slander us at anytime in the future.

You have agreed on the phone to consider these options and respond back to me on Friday, September 18th, 2009. I can be reached at my office at 508.925.5400. Thank you for your consideration.

TRS Institute Is Legit And A Great School

AUTHOR: Amanda Huggenkis - Tampa (United States of America)

I am saddened to hear such a terrible complaint about TRS Institute. As a former employee, I have seen and heard much of how the company operates. As any brand-spanking new company or school there is much tweaking and revising that strengthens the institution. The fact that some students went through several instructors is true. Did these instructors get fired? No. TRSi felt the need to move certain employees to positions that 'fit' them better. Not everyone makes a great instructor and a few of the instructors asked to be moved. One in particular, who we will call Mr. Chad, had been moved up in the company therefore was needed in a different location. Should there have been better communication with the students? Probably. Just because there were different instructors never changed the course outline nor did it jeopardize student grades. This company is evolving every day. I have a passion for what this company stands for and the lives that it has changed by allowing people to create an income from home in such a flexible atmosphere when otherwise they would still be choosing to pay their light bill rather than get food for their children. Of course this company has made some poor decisions but what company hasn't? The foundation and vision has remained the same all the while. TRSi has been trying different methods to set them apart from all of the other schools peddeling certificates to MT's who come out knowing jack-schitt about their job.

This one person who has complained about not getting her money back had I remember her. Some people think that they can start a new field working with computers and know nothing about computers. That is not the case with being a Medical Transcriptionist. The student must have a basic knowledge of the internet and the computer. There were a lot of technical challenges that this person had and despite the efforts of the TRSi tech team, she just couldnt figure it out and didn't have the minimum requirements needed to take the course. All schools have a dropout period and if a student chooses not to attend class after that dropout period then there is no obligation for the school to return their money. Students sign a agreement that outlines the refund policy. The company gave every option and did refund the unused portion to her.

There should be no reason why any person who wants to set their own pay yet have flexibility working from home shoudn't choose TRS Institute. Military spouses that move around can take their job with them. Parents who have family members with special needs can take care of their loved one, forego spending large amounts on in-home healthcare while still bringing in a substantial paycheck. TRS Institute stands out above all of the larger schools because students are the main focus not advertising or empty promises. Classes are small, personal and there's always an open door to the student's instructor or managment. Their technical support department is second to none. Check out their free LIVE monthly informational webinar and see for yourself. Register today on their website.

FYI: I am no longer with TRSi by choice since I have changed industries and moved to Florida. This is not an advertisement for TRS Institute. This rebuttal is my personal oppinion and does not reflect the oppinions of TRSi, TRSi management or TRSi affiliates.
