On July 31st, I terminated my contract due to a relocation to St. Louis. Along with a letter, I supplied the school with my employment letter stating the start date and the location in St. Louis where I was to work. The woman at the front desk told me that was enough to terminate the contract and that it would be "taken care of."
In August, I was charged another $119 monthly fee, so I e-mailed the instructor and he told me to contact "ASF" because they handle the accounts at the school. He also apologized for any inconvenience this has caused me. When I called "ASF" they told me that they did not know of any cancellation and that cancellations are not handled through the school. I was very upset.
They told me that I needed to fax a letter to them, which I did along with a recent paycheck stub listing my new home address and the address of my current employer. They also told me that there would be a $50 cancellation fee, which I told them that since I had paid another $119, they could take it out of that. Today, I received a letter (at my new address mind you) from "ASF" stating that they received my letter; however, I still need to send more proof that I have moved out of the area and now I mysteriously owe a $100 cancellation fee instead of the $50 I was told on the phone. They also stated that I will be required to continue to pay the $119 per month until I send in the proper paperwork and the $100 cancellation fee.
I have never in my life dealt with such horrible customer service. If there were other steps I needed to take to terminate my contract, the people at the school should have told me that when I turned in my letter. They did not provide any of that information to me. These are people my son regarded as family and to be treated like this?
Even though my son loved the school and the instructors, I will never put my child in another ATA or ASF International affiliated school again.

Unfortunately, in Liz's case it sounds as though she did not receive appropriate information from the representative at ATA. ASF International is just following the agreement that Liz signed. We are not requiring anything above and beyond what the contract states. The cancellation fee is outlined in her agreement.

That is such a shame I had a very similar situation with Premier Martial Arts Land O' Lakes Florida and ASF. I thought they were trustworthy people but they were only nice to me when I was giving them money.

Not only was i charged twice for the same month of classes but when I decided to move back to Denver i had the same problems and couldnt cancel. Theres so many complaints about this company on the web right now that it amazes me that these scumbags r still in business. I seriously dont have the time or the money to put up with this crap or i would sue them.
