Simply put, I was a Month to Month contract member at Bally's Total Fitness. When I signed up, I was told there was no cancellation fee because I was Month to Month. That's the whole point of paying a bigger initiation fee and charge, since you are not bound to a yearly contract.

Well, low and behold... I go to cancel my membership there after a good year. I am told that I can't do it in person. After asking what I do, they tell me to call corporate to cancel. A call to corporate gets me someone telling me there is a cancellation fee of $25 I have to pay to cancel. Wait? What's the point in a month to month membership then if I am having to pay to cancel? That's the first problem with this place. Second thing, I have to give 30 days notice. Now I specifically waited a few days before my next billing so that I could use what I paid for. And now I have to pay another 30 days in order to cancel. That's the second problem.

After paying $25 to cancel + 1 month fee's even though I was on a month to month contract, that wasn't good enough. Bally's went ahead and mysteriously charged me for another month after 30 days. They magically "forgot" I cancelled and thought I was still using the gym.

This company should really just be sued and closed down.
