I joined this gym with my sister in law in September of 2009 and have a three year contract with them. I have been trying to cancel this since December of 2009.
I got married and found out I was pregnant in December of 2009. Shortly after I was put on restricted bed rest and given orders by my ob not to go to the gym for the safety of myself and for our baby. After I found this out I tried to cancel the membership because I had orders from the doctor. They wouldn't let me.
In March of 2010 my husband was sent to Oklahoma. I was still pregnant and was still not able to use the gym membership that I was paying for. I found out that my husband was going to be stationed in Kansas because he is in the army. I told them this and they said to give them a copy of his orders and they would cancel this membership.
When it came time so cancel I found out they didn't because my name was not on the actual orders. As it turned out my husband was actually stationed in Germany. He came home for 10 days in July and we once again took a copy of his orders to Germany and turned them in at the Huber Heights office. They told us everything would be taken care of.
They did not cancel it! They lost our orders and still demanded that my name be on them. This had to wait because I developed eclampsia and went into early labor so we had to pay for another month of service that we were not getting to use.
I was scheduled to leave for Germany with my daughter to meet my husban on Nov 11, 2010. I called the company office and asked them specifically if all I had to do was turn in a copy of the orders with my name on them and the fact that we were stationed in Germany on them if that would be enough to cancel the membership. The woman said that was all I needed to do.
On Nov 9, 2010 I faxed a copy of the orders along with a copy of our marriage certificate and his orders to the company and flew out on the 11th. I am now living in Germany and got a letter in the mail saying that I have been turned over to a collections agency for this company for non payment.
When I called they said that I can't cancel it unless I prove that I live in Germany! I got the letter here in Germany. THis company keeps taking my money! I don't even live in the United States right now!
